The Weakest Link - Good Buy!, October 27, 2001
This review is from: The Weakest Link (CD-ROM)
Activision's "The Weakest Link" is by far one of the best PC game recreations of a TV game show that I have seen. If you are not brave enough to face Anne Robinson in person (and who would blame you?!), this is a perfect opportunity to have the game show experience in the comfort of your own home. The 3D graphics are amazing (though for (price), the technology is not quite yet there to give you and your fellow contestants anything better than block-head look). The game plays just like the TV show… from the lighting, to the music, to the "camera" swooping in/passing by each contestant. The only difference is the answers are presented in a multiple-choice format. You get the real-life Anne (in filmed segments) zinging the "team" with her trademark barbs between rounds and "cyber"-Anne furiously whipping her computer console around as she fires away. Even the same male TV announcer from the NBC show calmly informs us who was the strongest link, the weakest link, and who banked most for the team. Get too many answers wrong or take too long and your fellow players will vote you off. The "Walk of Shame" is even intact as players try to rationalize their mistakes or blame other players as they walk of the cyber-set. I would actually make this a 4.5 star review -- while the PC game ultimately ran fine for me, it did not on a slightly older computer. So a word of caution to those who may not have purchased a computer within say the last 2 years or so. Additionally, you are given 2 screen resolutions to choose from. Neither gave me a totally smooth graphics (although they are good enough to still enjoy the game). Overall, this is fast paced fun for fans of "Weakest Link" TV game show and its host Anne Robinson. Goodbye (evil wink).

Are you the Weakest Link?, September 29, 2001
This review is from: The Weakest Link (CD-ROM)
Weakest Link is the greatest game to hit the U.S. yet! With incredible graphics, realistic sets and characters, and oh-so-lovely Anne, you really feel like you're part of the action! In this version there are SEVEN players, not eight, so you only need to answer SEVEN questions *correctly* to reach your $125,000 target. Let's play...The Weakest Link! You can bend the rules to make Anne give you more or less questions from different categories as well as bend the rules to make Anne be more insulting! This is a great game, but beware--THIS GAME REQUIRES A *GOOD* 3D VIDEO CARD! IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE, YOU MIGHT EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS!!! This review was written September 29th, 2001, the day I went out and found Weakest Link at Wal-Mart! Ah, let thy heart be still...while Anne burns it with her Brutal Truths!

You ARE the Weakest Link... Goodbye!, November 24, 2001
This review is from: The Weakest Link (CD-ROM)
Feisty Anne Robinson scolds and punishes us in this brilliant and fun remake of the successful Brit import game show "The Weakest Link". A wonderful recreation of the actual TV game show, we are forced to undergo everything actual contestants endure on the show; time pressured questions, stupid team mates, and a sultry school marm berating us all the way. The voting is fun. I have yet to deduce any set patterns in voting from my fellow team mates. Truly, they surprise me regularly during the game, and I too have fallen under the wrath of being voted out of the game. The questions challenging, and some are easy, and after regular play for about two weeks, I am not getting a blaze of repeated questions yet as it happens in some other games. you can adjust question difficulty, as well as the types of questions asked. One glitch: I was disappointed that I had to choose a character to become, rather than being me, but you find someone like yourself and still go along for fun. I highly recommend this game for any Weakest Link fans and those daring enough to undergo Anne's wicked glare.
