Darkbuster is some good stuff,

I'll admit their a lot better live, but nevertheless this is some good stuff, I really liked the Joey Strummer tribute. I really like Rudy, again, better live heh. Really good band, I saw them with DKM, and I liked them more.

I was shocked at some of the lyrics in a couple of the songs but... it is a hard punk and they do go for shock value. Over all I enjoy most of their songs and skip the ones I don't like. Needless to say not for the weak of heart.

Darkbuster's "A Weakness For Spirits" is purely good.
If you are considering the purchase, I greatly recommend it. First of all, this CD has significantly improved their production levels further, especially compared with their previous albums. Good production actually helps them thicking guitar sounds and clarifying vocals. This CD is particularly good because of the top-notched songwritings of the band, and of the unique vox. If you have followed Darkbuster from the early days, you know that they are good at writing catchy songs. "A Weakness For Spirits" clearly demonstrates the apex of their continuous efforts with respect to songwriring. Some catchy songs include: "Stand and Delivery" "Try to Make it Right" "Whiskey Will" "Shoulda Known Better." The highlight is definitely "Skinhead," which is everybody's favorite at shows (they have even played it twice at same show!). I need to mention that this CD has actually a great diversity in genre. You can find the old-school ska songs ("Rudy" and "D.J.") and some thresh songs ("Rise Up"). Also as mentioned briefly, the way the singer(s?) manage(s) his vocal lines is extremely unique. You can actually hear every world in CD very readily, without looking up to the lyrics note. Overall, 18 songs in this CD seems not prolonged to me. At countless times, I raise my fists up to the air while humming along the chorus and sing-along parts. There are hooks in this CD for sure. Also, the CD comes with digipak (or you call paper-sleeve?), which is very neat for having CD sit in my living room. For fans of Swingin Utter's, Ducky Boys, and Whiskey Rebels.

Saw these fellas in a local magazine and noticed that I recognized the drummer from back in the day. We used to build dirt houses and park the cars on top.
Anyway, the CD is nice. Check it out! |
