Attaining the Wealth You Deserve...,
By yygsgsdrassil "yygsgsdrassil" (Crossroads America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wealth 101: Getting What You Want-Enjoying What You'Ve Got (Hardcover)
...another of the great Life 101 Series Peter McWilliams (this is with John-Roger) is over 500 pages of solid gold advice and affirmations. The authors define wealth (40 pages of ways of looking at life), then money--and how important it is in the overall scheme of things. They show you how to enjoy what you already have...the section "You Can Have Anything You Want, but you Can't have Everything You Want" is kind of a summary statement for the entire journey presented here, but then the authors tell you, "Obtaining Is Easy; Maintaining is Hard"...they suggest that it is all an Inside Job. One which requires a bit of maintenance. They then tell you how to get more of anything you want. Money. Popularity. How to win the Powerball. (Just kidding on that last item.) Well, if they don't have the "How to" on winning the Powerball, they have the "How to" on how to enjoy the winnings. Every other page is an appropriate quote to suit thewriters' text and one can find enjoyment out of reading these alone if one is so inclined. Oprah Winfrey gives the gist of the authors' major intention. She says "Before I had money I was really quite happy. And, I will tell you this...I never would have gotten the money If I wasn't happy to begin with". Again, it is written with those who are Brain Numb (like I am) in mind. Even if you don't become wealthy overnight, you would have taken a step in the right direction to achieve wealth and financial stability by getting this great book.

A Book to Live by...,

I've been reading and re-reading this book for years. I just bought it for a couple of friends that I thought could use the inspiration and humor that this book lends. Although I can get a little bored with all the quotes sometimes I always enjoy the message. It's one of those books you can just open the page and get a message from when you need it. Love it as well as Life 101, which I read first. Both are fun practical guides to getting into perspective during challenging times.

Re-evaluating Contentment, Money Required for Admission,

This review is from: Wealth 101: Getting What You Want-Enjoying What You'Ve Got (Hardcover)
My hardcover version of this book had 521 pages, but the page on the left when the book is opened isn't a real page. It's a semi-relevant quote in 48 font italics. In fact, much of the book is made of quotes by famous people about happiness, wealth, and money. Very little analysis is done. Sure, if you haven't thought about health as wealth, family as wealth, setting your own hours as wealth, good food as wealth, leisure time as wealth... then it might make a greater impact.
Personally I found most of the book geared toward 'Enjoying What You've Got' with nearly nothing on 'Getting What You Want' beyond the usual tired self-help cliches. So if you are living too hectic a life, stuck in a stressed out rat race, then this book will help you reorganize your priorities. If you are unemployed and hoping for say business advice, this book is not for you, and you may find some of the 'enjoy what you got' advice patronizing, as it assumes you have money. Ironically, if you can afford this book's cover price, you are more likely to like it. If you can only afford checking it out of a library, then it is probably not relevant to you. |
