2.0 out of 5 stars not valid for todays declining realestate market
a decent book with some good advice on making MORE money if you already have a few grand to start with. The bulk of the book however pushes realestate investment, and "hitting them when they're down" to gain properties cheaply. The section on stock market investing is also decent, but you need to have a a fair amount of money to start with to keep the transaction fees...

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be taught in schools as a Wealth Course, July 10, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Wealth 101 (Hardcover)
Wealth 101 is a compendium of Wade's best strategies, all inone book. You will learn about covered calls, rolling stocks, options, stock splits, lease options on real estate, corporations and more. This really should be a college course and taught as Wealth 101. Great stuff!

Whether you are a serious investor, or prefer holding onto your money, everyone can benefit from reading this book. Wade Cook gives you information on everything from playing the stock market, to buying life insurance, to reducing taxes. He covers nearly all aspects of personal finance. Although you will not be able to make use of everything mentioned (all 101), you can certainly apply some, if not most, to your financial well-being.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch overview of your investment choices!, May 2, 2003
By
This review is from: Wealth 101 (Hardcover)
Wealth 101 is a great place to begin your financial education by giving you an overview of dozens (literally 101) different investment strategies, tax loopholes and other investment knowledge, so that you can "determine your direction" in your own personal financial journey. This book, coupled with Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", "Cashflow Quadrant" and "Rich Dad's Guide to Investing", will be a sound foundation for your business, investment and economic future! I recommend reading all of the above, then devouring Wade Cook's other books covering the stategies you decide to pursue as a result. The "Rich Dad Advisor Series" is also an excellent place for detailed knowledge on these same (and some different) subjects.

4.0 out of 5 stars good summary of strategies, short on detail, August 9, 2005
This review is from: Wealth 101 (Hardcover)
This book is easy to read and covers a wide spectrum of financial strategies. This is exactly what the book was meant to do, and I think it does a pretty good job at it. There are quite a few references to the author's other works for those interested in particular strategies. Clearly, I would recommend that someone only use this book as a good overview of strategies, but not for making any specific financial decision. This should give you the information to decide how to pursue your financial goals, but you would want to pursue much more specific and detailed material on real estate, stocks, options, etc.. before making any specific financial decisions.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Lots of delicious tidbits to get the brain juices flowing. This is the appetizer to all your wealth meals. I bought it, initially, because it was one of the few books that touched on the subject of buying notes. It's simple and easy to read. So if you're not sure which direction you want to go to build your wealth...start here. You can refer to it over and over when you're ready for a new wealth concept.

5.0 out of 5 stars 101 STRATEGIES THAT REALL WORK!!, September 26, 2003
This review is from: Wealth 101 (Hardcover)
This book is a compendium of Cooks Real Estate, Stock Market and Busines strategies. Actually 101 strategies from someone who has been in the trenches, knows what works and what doesn't work.

Too many other books are written by "paper authorities" who only write based on popular dogma perpetuated by other authors who are high on advice but low on experience.

Wealth 101 should be taught in schools. Good book, you'll love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring, December 14, 2009

This review is from: Wealth 101 (Hardcover)
Cook talks about stewardship and not just making money. He puts money-making skills into a framework of enhancing the quality of life for other people and giving something back to other people. Some of the strategies he teaches in this book may no longer apply with changes in the economy, but the principles that go beyond them are solid.

He writes, "what I enjoy is teaching; I love teaching. I define a lot of who I am by my ability to teach. I really enjoy doing adult education and I want to deliver and give them a lot of information" (p. 245). He does just that in this easy to read book. Cook accomplishes tasks while building relationships.

Another ageless tip he offers to create your own area of expertise. He advises, "may I recommend to you that you get to be an expert at your business, at whatever product or service that you're marketing." That goes along with what other successful advisors suggest. Cook is also a strong advocate of the fact that education is a valuable investment in one's self. His holistic approach is commendable. I agree with his Christian worldview. This book has a lot of solid practical advise.

2.0 out of 5 stars wealth 101, September 14, 2003

...its a good book to read for inspiration. The best reading is the little tidbits of insight that are sprinkled throughout the text of the book(time management, financial planning, ect) I find, however, the real estate and stock market strategies mere filler and the book itself doubles as a catalogue for products and services. The book is definitely marketed to the "get rich" and "seminar junkie" crowds. I like the book for the information on what not to do and what one should do to be successful. I am not completely enamored of the investing and real estate strategies largely because I believe one should consult respected specialists in the various topics covered within the book. However,I believe the book alludes to this fact. Overall an entertaining read but the book is not worth the purchasing price new as is the case with most books of this genre. I give it 2 stars because the content therein may be of interest to the various markets mentioned above.
