2.0 out of 5 stars Decent, though opinionated
I came across this book while browsing and doing a quick preview, decided to purchase. The book is decent, probably worth 2.5 stars, but there is nothing new contained in terms of the content.

From the title alone, you may think that this is a book a how-to guide or would cover traditional and non-traditional ways of working for yourself. The book is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Make money with ease, January 17, 2005
By
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)
This book will change your life. If you want to start your own business, or if you want to increase your capacity to earn money with your current business, get this book. For me, 'Wealth Without a Job' taught me the entrepreneurial skills that weren't taught in school. Even more importantly, WWJ shows you how to disconnect the unconscious habits around money and finances that may be impeding your financial well-being. It shows you how to create healthier and more effective habits (and beliefs) around money. The result is that you can earn money more efficiently, more easily and without excessive pain or stress.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a book you work with, rather than simply read through. It is essential to do the exercises to get the results. The exercises, and written material that accompanies them, are well thought out and effective. You can feel the changes occuring in you as you progress.

As an added benefit, the roadmap for change contained in this book works equally well for other areas of life. If you want to experience greater abundance in your life, give it a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars As close to a how to guide as it gets, January 12, 2005
By
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)
When I recieved this book, I cracked it immediately.
This book isn't a "step by step guide", but a handbook to be used repeatedly, referenced often, and drawn from as much as possible.
It contains a distillation of theories and practices that will, when properly applied to your thought processes, improve your thinking.
The concepts in this book depend on how dedicated you are to improving your status, your wealth building potential, and your quality of life. However, you will only get out of it what you put into it. Hey, that sounds familiar.
Invest in yourself by aquiring this book, and you're in for a fantastic time, mind expanding journey, and the opportunity of a lifetime. You can do it! Go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Psychology of Wealth (A Must Read!!!), November 16, 2004
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)
This is a must read for anyone who wants more out of life. Wealth without a Job is one of the most financially beneficial books I have read in a long time. It takes your psychology and puts it in a money building mindset. The way I look at things now is more from a perspective of financial prosperity and gain instead of worrying about paying the bills or just catching up. In fact since reading this book my business has picked up tons of steam and I have been on a roll ever since. I would just like to thank Andy and Phil for writing this book. This should have come out years ago. Who knows where I would be now if I had it sooner.

2.0 out of 5 stars Decent, though opinionated, October 5, 2004
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)

The book is actually about the psychology of work and money, and how to change your life by changing the way you think. It then covers various topics such as affirmations, visualization, NLP and entering a meditative (optimal learning) state. It stresses confronting then forgetting about the past in order to move forward and taking responsibility for what happens in your life. I agree that a person's thinking and how they see themselves is important to accomplishing their goals. In that respect, this book is more useful for those that need to change their thinking and those who are not familiar with this part of the self-help genre.

What really takes away from the book are the opinions that are included in the text that could turn some people off. Several times the authors state that you should not listen to Country and Western or Rap because they are negative. While I understand the premise of not being influenced by negative lyrics, it is wrong to single out a specific type of music because all types can be both positive and negative. There is also a point in the book where the authors refer to Downtown Detroit as an urban wasteland. Again, whether this is the case or not, it adds nothing to the book and, for some people, take away from it.

Overall, an okay read, but nothing illuminating.

1.0 out of 5 stars For most people, really not worth your time, June 28, 2007
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)
This is probably a good book for someone who has never held a "real" job, has no career prospects, and has serious self-esteem/emotional issues. The primary emphasis seems to be a Dr. Phil sort of approach, a hand-holding you-can-do-this guide for people who don't have the foggiest idea what they want out of life.

My goal in reading this was to get ideas for a side business. There was a two-page exercise on setting your goal, and other than that, I got nothing out of the book that I didn't already know. If you are somewhat intelligent, industrious, and your mommy and daddy didn't tell you that you'd never amount to anything, then I'd recommend skipping this book. The Millionaire Next Door is still the best book of this genre that I've ever read and is a great place to start.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)
I ordered this book from a South Carolina seller because I was hoping to get it in a few days instead of a few weeks. I GOT IT THE NEXT DAY! This seller is on the ball. They shipped my order the same day and I got it the next at no extra cost. Perfect condition. I'll be using this book seller again and again. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now you can create 'The Good Life' for yourself., October 10, 2005
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)
I highly recommend their book - it has a huge gold mine of fast and very effective methods for becoming who you want to be and creating the life you want to live. And you can use them for personal growth as well as exploding your business. By applying what you learn from the exercises in the book (Life Purpose Statement, SMART goals, Baseball Diamond, VCR scripting, Power Affirmations and many more), you can transform yourself from victim to victor in a very short amount of time.

2.0 out of 5 stars An Okay Book But Not A Great One, December 28, 2005
This review is from: Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Freedom and Security Beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle (Hardcover)
As a previous reviewer pointed out this is not a how to book but one that deals with changing one's attitude from being an employee to an entrepenur. While that's great for those who need it, this book doesn't really offer anything new to anyone who is already inclined to start an entrepenurial venture. I would reccomend any of Robert Kiyosaki's books for those who want to go into business for themselves. Considering the current and near term job market,I highly encourage others to consider this route.
