Book Description

August 1997 Isodarco
This text is made up of articles presented at the 18th Summer School of ISODARCO, the theme of which was "The Weapons Legacy of the Cold War: Problems and Opportunites". The papers present a review of the current situation in international security as created by the Cold war, and how the end of the Cold war is likely to change the situation. The range of topics covered is broad since the ending of the Cold war has created changes in many aspects of international security, but the theme of the weapons legacy of the Cold War and the possible changes in it, tie the articles together. Specific topics discussed include changes in technology policy after the Cold War, military technology, problems of converting military technologies to civilian uses, nuclear weapons and their security, and nuclear disarmament.
