This review is from: Weapons of the Romans (Paperback)
I waded through this, hoping to find something useful. I bought it on recommendation from persons who have lost some of the respect I had for their opinions on such matters. Don't waste your money or time. Buy a copy of Peter Connolly's Greece and Rome at War (or anything else he's written), or something by Adrian Goldsworthy. This book seems to be an archaeological survey - probably his thesis or dissertation. The illustrations are too small, the text is general and discursive, and it is readily apparent that the author knows little of warfare in general.
