5.0 out of 5 stars Cook's Illustrated Is Right: A Great Pan At Great Price
OK, so Cook's Illustrated rated this pan the best bargain nonstick pan and every one stampeded to get one. But, Cook's Illustrated is right: this is a great pan. How long will the nonstick coating last? Don't know, don't care. At $25 you can buy four or five of these for what an All Clad pan would cost, get years of use from each one, and probably never get to the fifth...

2.0 out of 5 stars lighter than other annodized pans and a cheap hollow handle
I bought this off teh cooks recommendation. I didn't like the handle that much. While it isn't flimsy, its not as strong as I would have liked-its hollowed out with rounded edges but not as nice as say the cooks line from JC Penneys (which I own a 8" annodized nonstick skillet with eclipse nonstick coating that I love!!)

The handle is two pieces riveted to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Cook's Illustrated Is Right: A Great Pan At Great Price, July 26, 2007
This review is from: WearEver Premium Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Saute Pan (Kitchen)
OK, so Cook's Illustrated rated this pan the best bargain nonstick pan and every one stampeded to get one. But, Cook's Illustrated is right: this is a great pan. How long will the nonstick coating last? Don't know, don't care. At $25 you can buy four or five of these for what an All Clad pan would cost, get years of use from each one, and probably never get to the fifth one as a replacement, assuming you live that long. As for it being termed a "saute pan", you can "saute" in anything, even a sauce pan, so there's no such thing as a pan just for saute, and many cooks feel the skillet type pan is better anyway. The main advantage of a saute pan is that, because of its straight sides, you get the maximum footprint of the pan as cooking surface. In any case, this pan is very good quality and a great value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great pan, odd handle, January 3, 2007

I used this pan just this morning and I really like it. It has a great non-stick surface and is easy to clean. The price is great also.
The only thing that might be a problem for some people is the handle. It slants downward instead of upward. So, if you have a flat surface stovetop, your pan won't sit flat on the surface. I have a gas stove and it is not a problem for me. I didn't notice this from the picture and the descriptions don't mention this but I think it is important to know. Who knows, maybe I got a defective pan and don't know it.
Other than that, it is a great pan for the money. I like it more than other non-stick pans I have had.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but not as deep as expected., October 24, 2006

This review is from: WearEver Premium Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Saute Pan (Kitchen)
I bought this skillet (and it is a skillet, not a saute pan) on the recommendation of Cook's Illustrated magazine. They recommended it to replace a previous non-stick skillet that is no longer being manufactured. I owned that skillet as well but it was worn out by lots of stir-frying at high temps. I like this one but it is not as deep as I expected or would like. It's not as comfortable to stir-fry in.

Still, a good skillet at a good price. Good weight and I like the metal handle as I can stick it (briefly) under the broiler when I make frittata.

4.0 out of 5 stars wonderful pan but balance problem causes frustration, June 26, 2007
This review is from: WearEver Premium Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Saute Pan (Kitchen)
This pan is a wonderful size and cooking surface for an all purpose skillet and saute. It has a flaw, however, which is makes it slightly frustrating to use. The handle has not been balanced correctly and the pan tips towards the handle when on an electric burner. This causes the contents to run to one side and I've had to actually prop up the handle to level the pan. Unfortunately, I have an all electric kitchen and this is an ongoing problem. I do not know if the pan would be similarly unbalanced if on a gas burner. I have made some creative choices in propping up the handle, even resorting to sticking it through the handle of a coffee mug on the counter next to the stove. Apart from this challenge to my ingenuity, the pan is great.

This is one of the best "frying" pans [too shallow to be a "saute" pan] in my collection. It's cooks great, distributing the heat evenly, and unlike other pans, it's heavy weight let's it sit snuggly on the burner of my radiant glass surface stovetop.

Looking for a great alternative to All-clad saute pan! This is the product! I have a couple of All-Clad pans which I love & got this one as recommended by Cooks Illustrated and were they right!! Am ordering 2 more for my kids.

I bought this pan because of a review I read from Cooks Illustrated. They were right. It's a great pan. It's substantial, but not too heavy. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, November 21, 2007
This review is from: WearEver Premium Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Saute Pan (Kitchen)
This pan is fantastic. Roomy, silky, with a comfortable handle and evenly distributed heat. Only minus is the lack of a lid. America's Test Kitchen recommends this pan, too. It's inexpensive and wonderful.

The handle is two pieces riveted to the pan instead of one solid one. I'm not fond of that either...just seems cheaply designed but hey its not all clad!!!
Add to it that when it arrived the pan was out of round but the box didn't look damaged at all. I may look at Penny's or Sears for this as Sears has one for less with no shipping charges.

I'm a pretty avid Cooks fan and follow their recommedations but this one looks like they went for a real value oriented choice on this one.
