Not oven safe for 400 degrees,

This is listed to be oven safe up to 400 degrees, but the pan warped after 15 minutes at only 375. Now it rocks back and forth and is unsteady when resting. Glad I got it for free.

Someone really put thought into this pan! Big handles make it so much easier to get a heavy pan out of the oven. The rolled edge makes it easy to grab the pan also. The non-stick is great for clean up after a long meal. No pre-soak or re-washing. It's worth hand washing. I never put pans in the dishwasher anyway. Definitely a great pan.

I Love Pot Roast, but Hate the Clean-Up!,

This came as a premium with purchase, so I'm not sure I'd have selected it otherwise. I am glad I got it. The nonstick coating saves me a lot of cleanup and soaking time. With my regular roaster, I always had to line the inside of the pan with aluminum foil. It typically develops a leak somewhere, and that part of the pan will burn the grease, making it hard to clean. This pan cleans up easy with no soaking. You can clean it hours after the meal, and its not much of a job. A good feature, the handles are great for grabing the pan. I no longer risk burning myself leaning in to get a firm grasp on the pan. I can grasp the handle and pull it out most of the way, so I can get a good grip to pick it up. In fact, the handles may be a bit overkill, as big and heavy as they are you could easily carry the pan if it was full of bricks. I haven't used the V-shaped rack yet, but it looks like it will help support a larger roast or bird. I use a finer rack to drain the roast while it cooks. Like my old pan it has a lip to seal aluminum foil on the top to keep in the steam. I don't have to baste with pot roast, but if I ever do a Turkey the baster will come in handy. Pan is a good size for roasting, it has ample space for the carrots, onions, potatoes and other trimmings I put in my roasts.

I received this roasting pan 2 or 3 months ago as a freebie with something else I bought (can't remember what). I recently used it for the first time to cook our 16 lb. Christmas ham. The size of the pan was perfect, and I was also pleased with the roasting rack included. Cleanup was a breeze...well, of the roasting pan anyway...sometimes I wish my entire house was covered in non-stick coating!I had my husband lift the ham in and out of the oven for me, and he said he liked the handles on the pan. He did however, have to use a less bulky pair of oven mitts than normal to accomodate the size of the handle openings. My pan did have a slight ding on the bottom - the reason for the 4 star rating. I'm sure Amazon would have exchanged it had I requested it, but I had the pan for 2 or 3 months before I opened it.

Fantastic for Christmas,

This roasting set is a piece of ingenuity! After having friends round for a Sunday roast recently (we had turkey and beef), they all commented on how well my meat tasted, made all the better by using the included baster to keep it moist. The roll top edge and the handles gave me no problem when removing my meat from the oven, especially whilst wearing a thick oven glove. Highly recommended to you Sunday chefs out there!

I love this roaster! The handles make it super easy to pick up, so I worry a lot less about slippery sides and dropping pans. The non-stick surface makes cleaning a breeze, even if you're like me and don't do dishes for awhile after making dinner. I usually stick it in the dishwasher with no problems, but it is also incredibly easy to handwash. Highly recommend!

I don't cook a lot of roasts, but may start to now. I got this item free with my Cutlery set and figured I'd just Ebay it...but it's a nice set, still a little 'lighter' than I'd like, but way better than many I see in the mall. This will be a great addition to my kitchen and roast beef sandwiches shall prevail! :)

Can't get a grip!,

I received this set as a freebie with purchase, and I'm happy to have it. As often as I need a big roasting pan like this, that is to say a few times a year, this set is certainly adequate. I have to say though that I had trouble manipulating the handles which swing out for use and then flop back down when released. This is fine when you're first putting the pan and it's heavy contents into the oven, but when attempting to grasp the handles when the pan is hot and you're wearing bulky oven mitts, it's pretty frustrating. If I used it a lot, I think this would really become a sore point. The pan cleans up very easily, as does the rack, and of course that's always nice.

Get a Grip!,

It's really a perfectly adequate roasting pan, large enough for a twenty-pounder, with a good solid rack, and the nonstick coating makes for a no-scrub cleanup. The handles, however, will cause you a bit of grief I'm afraid. They hang down flush with the sides of the pan and are a bit of a pain to get hold of, but once you grab 'em they do what they're supposed to do. All in all a good buy.

Easy pan to clean!,

There was a sale going on, and I wanted to replace many of my older pans (inheritence from various relatives and garage sales) with something a little nicer. Plus, I needed a baster. So I figured on giving this set a spin.We got the pan, and the first dish I made was a honey-based chicken. Usually when honey is baked on a pan, it's going to take some major elbow grease to get off. With this pan, it was a snap! Just soak the pan for a bit, and the gunk was able to be wiped out with a sponge. The pan itself is the best part of the set. The baster is one that you can find anywhere (and isn't the best quality). The rack is a bit harder to clean, as it has nooks and crannies that aren't the easiest to scrub. Since it's a nonstick pan, it can't be put in the dishwasher... which is my biggest complaint, since I don't usually do dishes by hand. This pan is great for chickens and other small poultry, up to maybe a capon-sized bird (or small turkey). I've yet to try anything else in the pan, but it can probably do a four-rib roast quite nicely. |
