Scary but good book about Native Americans,
By A Customer
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
In this book, Nathan, an eleven-year-old boy, lived in Ohio in 1839. His mother had died, so it was just his father, his sister and himself. Their father usually went hunting during the night, but when they woke up one morning, their father was missing. After five days, Ezra, a pioneer who could not speak, came to take them to his we-gi-wa, where their father lay wounded. While Nathan's father was getting better, Nathan went back home to feed the animals. When he returned home, he discovered that all the animals had either been stolen or killed. Nathan suspected that Weasel has done this. Weasel was a man who was hired by the government to drive out the Shawnee Indians. Ezra was also hired but he changed and sided with the Shawnees. Bad rumors had started about Weasel. For example, he has the need to kill, and since all the Shawnees have been driven out, he has turned against the pioneers. On the way back to Ezra's we-gi-wa, Nathan saw Weasel and using a trick from Ezra, Nathan threw a stick at Weasel. Nathan was now awake in Weasel's cabin.I think this was a good book because the author describes all the characters and settings very well. The story also has a good plot and is always grabbing your attention. This book is great for intermediate readers because it is exciting, adventurous, but not too long.

WEASEL,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
This was a vary good book. It is rather a short book but it is compact. It is an easy read and tells about how life was in the mid 1800s in the rural areas. It takes place in Ohio and is written from the point of view of an 11-year-old boy. Nathan and his sister Molly are home alone on the farm after their mother died, and there Pa had gown missing. They are visited by a strange looking man, Ezra, who leads them deep into the woods to find there Pa who has been badly hurt by weasel. Weasel is a man who went around killing and steeling whenever he could. The kids and Pa stay with Ezra for a few days until Nathan goes back to the farm to feed the animals. He finds the farm trashed and most of the animals either dead or missing. Nathan knows this was done by weasel and when he is on his journey back to Ezra's he is captured by weasel. He manages to escape and weasel shoots himself in the foot. Pa gets better and they all leave Ezra and return home. Weasel had told Nathan horrible stories about cutting out Ezra's tongue and killing his wife. Now Nathan wants revenge.

Totally inappropriate for young kids!!,
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
My 10-year-old was assigned to read this book for school and was so disturbed by reading the back cover alone that she was scared to go to bed by herself. When I finally got her calm, I sat down and read it myself and I must say that I find the content TOTALLY inappropriate for a 5th grader. The villian, Weasel, is a government "injun hunter" gone rogue, who now kills whoever and whatever he comes into contact with. At one point, he cuts out a victim's tongue and forces him to watch as he murders the guy's wife and their unborn baby. My child WILL NOT be reading this book any time soon, and the school will be hearing from me in the morning.

Creepy,
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
As this story was being read in elementary school, my daughter found the part where Weasel kills a pregnant wife in front of her husband disturbing. READERS BEWARE. Is this actually for children?

Ryan's review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
I think this book was really good.I remember almost every part that happened in it.A kid named Nathan he went looking for his dad with his sister and it took them a couple ofdays to find him. There dad was very sick and they started giving him some medicine and they stayed by the trap with there dad for a couple of days, and they got him outa the trap of course.Nathan forgot to feed his animals when he left to find his dad so he went back home early one morning and got there at night,he looked around and every animal they had was dead.Weasel went through, weasel goes around killing every thing and every one he see's. he started heading back and he was hearing some noises from in the woods and he thought it was weasel but he still kept going the way he was going toward his father, it turned out it was weasel and he had Nathans dads' gun.Nathan hid to one side of a tree and weasel headed toward him.Nathan had this stick that was just like a spear and threw it at him. Nathan herd a gun soht and he thought he was hit and he blacked out.He woke up and he was in weasels home tied to a chair and weasel was over on his little bed made out of some animal fur. Weasel saw that Nathan was awake and he started blabbering to him.Weasel was drinking and he started falling asleep.Nathan got untied and took the gun from weasel because he was sleeping with it on his lap. Nathan took it and aimed it at Weasel and and told him to move out of the way so he can go back to his dad.He went back to his dad and he told him and his sister about it.His dad was feeling better and they went back to there house. It was getting warmer out side and Nathan was thinking about Weasel. He wanted to kill him so bad and one morning he went there really early.Went he got there it turned out that he was dead. when Weasel shot he shot himself instead of Nathan. He cdied because of the wound. He buried him and they live happily ever after.

OUTSTANDING BOOK FOR SIXTH GRADERS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
As a sixth grade teacher I am always looking for books that both my girls and boys will enjoy. They LOVED Weasel! First it was a success because it is not a popular book so no one had already read it. It contains so much adventure the kids wanted to keep reading. The book is very well written and each chapter is a true cliffhanger. Instead of having to motivate my kids to read, I had to make them promise to ONLY read to a certain point so we could still make predictions. I will use this book every year!!

Weasel is a wonderful book!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
Weasel is a mind boggling adventure story about a man and an enemy. Ezra, a man who formerly worked with Weasel, shows up at Nathan and Molly's cabin door. He is holding thier mothers locket in his hand. Why, you may ask, is something you must find out on your own. Ezra says nothing to them. Why doesn't he speak? You'll also have to figure that out for yourself by reading the book. Cynthia DeFelice keeps you on the edge of your seat with this book. Its full of surprises you would never expect to encounter. I suggest this book to anyone that is in need of an adventure story.

Wow,what a book!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Weasel (Paperback)
When was the last time you read a book that keeps you in suspense? Well, let me recomend the book Weasel by Cynthia Defelice. This book keeps you in total suspence as the characters encounter different situations.Cynthia Defelice's powerful look on surviving in the wilderness with a killer on the run is very exciting. The character Nathan never would have expected that this could happen to him, but it does. The dreams that haunt him of a killer named Weasel were true, until a man named Ezra came along. His silence leads to discovering, who weasel was, and why he never spoke a word. If you like exciting books that keep you on the edge of your chair, you will enjoy this book.
