1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this!, May 29, 2009
This review is from: WeatherCast 5-Day Wireless Weather Forecaster (Misc.)
We owned the previous model of this product. It stopped working less than a year after purchase. Upon contacting their horrible customer service we were told that they have changed the service and that we were the proud owners of a large paperweight. Their customer service had us send back the unit and they sent us a gift card for 20% of the value of the item - no replacement - no refund - no caring in my opinion. If you buy this, I hope you get enjoyment out of it for the few months that it will work!

We bought this unit for Christmas 2 years ago for my mother who lived in Michigan and it worked beautifully (Michigan has weather!). She moved to San Diego this fall to live with us and we now have the unit on our bookcase. The display switched seamlessly from Michigan to San Diego and its forecast has been "right on" (sometimes even more accurate than the radio forecasts). We liked it so much that we went to Brookstone yesterday to buy another for a friend. Brookstone stopped making this model two years ago. The new model has much less information and even their clerk (who has this model) stated that the new one is not as good. Thus, my only concern would be that this is not a "recent" product. The price is what Brookstone was charging for it when offered by them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lasted 2 weeks, December 3, 2010
This review is from: WeatherCast 5-Day Wireless Weather Forecaster (Misc.)
Originally wanted a weather station with barometer, etc and then I found this item. Thought it would be cool to place on the fridge and check out the weather in the morning. The device needs to pick up a signal and therefore must be near a window and it might not be the side of the house you might like and it definitely wasn't working on my fridge. I found an acceptable location and it typically had 3 bars of signal (like a cell phone indicator). Information updated regularly until one day I noticed it was still the same temp outside and was waaaaay off. Replaced batteries but this did not correct the issue. It was indicating that there is no signal. I called Ambient who is the contact from the manual for troubleshooting and they said to drive 5 miles in any direction with the device (for my specific location) and I will be in range of another tower. Wait there for 20- 30 minutes for the information to update. This was to determine if it was a bad tower or receiver in the device. It turns out that it was the receiver and now it's in the trash. Might be more fun to simply drive around throwing money out the window pretending to be wealthy.
