Each of our family members had one of these.

Upon contacting their horrible customer service we were told that they have changed the service and that we were the proud owners of a large paperweight.

Sadly I have to say that it is not as accurate as I had hoped for.

We owned the previous model of this product. It stopped working less than a year after purchase. Upon contacting their horrible customer service we were told that they have changed the service and that we were the proud owners of a large paperweight. Their customer service had us send back the unit and they sent us a gift card for 20% of the value of the item - no replacement - no refund - no caring in my opinion. If you buy this, I hope you get enjoyment out of it for the few months that it will work!

Unit stopped working. Batteries OK. Screen data froze up. Hit reset. But it won't restart. Worked OK for about two years. Now Dead. Hope the one I gave my Brother as a gift is still working...

Originally wanted a weather station with barometer, etc and then I found this item. Thought it would be cool to place on the fridge and check out the weather in the morning. The device needs to pick up a signal and therefore must be near a window and it might not be the side of the house you might like and it definitely wasn't working on my fridge. I found an acceptable location and it typically had 3 bars of signal (like a cell phone indicator). Information updated regularly until one day I noticed it was still the same temp outside and was waaaaay off. Replaced batteries but this did not correct the issue. It was indicating that there is no signal. I called Ambient who is the contact from the manual for troubleshooting and they said to drive 5 miles in any direction with the device (for my specific location) and I will be in range of another tower. Wait there for 20- 30 minutes for the information to update. This was to determine if it was a bad tower or receiver in the device. It turns out that it was the receiver and now it's in the trash. Might be more fun to simply drive around throwing money out the window pretending to be wealthy.

We bought this unit for Christmas 2 years ago for my mother who lived in Michigan and it worked beautifully (Michigan has weather!). She moved to San Diego this fall to live with us and we now have the unit on our bookcase. The display switched seamlessly from Michigan to San Diego and its forecast has been "right on" (sometimes even more accurate than the radio forecasts). We liked it so much that we went to Brookstone yesterday to buy another for a friend. Brookstone stopped making this model two years ago. The new model has much less information and even their clerk (who has this model) stated that the new one is not as good. Thus, my only concern would be that this is not a "recent" product. The price is what Brookstone was charging for it when offered by them.

Living in San Diego with perfect weather, I can't imagine why I wanted one of these forecasters. Sadly I have to say that it is not as accurate as I had hoped for. We have had a perfectly sunny day today and the forecaster has displayed a "cloudy" symbol all day!

This is a beautiful device. Very easy to set and the display is very nice. The only issue I have with this device is that it won't display the current indoor temperature. :(.

Other than this, just great.

I bought this from Brookstone about 2 - 3 years ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, it just died. I am horribly disappointed but I'm about to buy another one because I like it so much. I've looked at other ones, and I don't like the fussiness involved. This one has other cities. It doesn't have to be plugged in. It doesn't require another device from which to read stuff. And it gives you additional days of forecasting. This one has spoiled me, but it should work longer than 2 - 3 years. It died at the same time as my Seiko world clock, but that lasted 30 years. (What is going on? Why is new stuff so crappy?)

Verified Purchase
Each of our family members had one of these. Brookstone discontinued selling these. My father broke his. I was excited to find one of these still available on the site. Sent to him for his birthday but it was defective and returned.

Seek out other weather forecaster. Service no longer supported.
