5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME
The first two songs are a bit "hard" for my taste, but the rest of the tracks are classic CREED. I LOVE THIS BAND. It's nice to find music I can have in common with my kids. The lyrics are pure poetry and the music just fills your soul. I found the song "My Sacrafice" to be a bit lighter and "bubble gummish" than the rest of the album. I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sounds like a bad Pearl Jam tribute band.
Pretentious christian guy, Scott Stapp (two t's, two p's) might have copied Eddie Vedder's voice, but it's harder to copy talent. That's why Creed sound so awful. PJ took risks with Vitalogy and No Code; Creed's third outing sounds exactly the same as the previous two. Music for the masses -- what can I say!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done again Creed....., November 22, 2001

This was a very good 3rd album released by Creed. I was just introduced to Creed's music a few months ago and i absolutely fell in love with their music.

"Weathered" starts out fast and gets progressively slower throughout the CD, and then lets you go with "lullaby", and the songs were very well done.

Good job again Creed. I strongly recommend this CD, go out and get it if you havn't yet!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably Their Best CD, November 20, 2001

Creed's CDs have always contained very melodic, catchy hard rock songs / anthems, and Weathered is certainly no exception. However, with this CD, Creed have definately added an edge and heaviness to their music that wasn't present on their previous albums.

The 1st four songs are probably the heaviest that Creed has put on a CD, and they are so good that they alone merit a 5 star rating for this album ("Signs" and the 8 minute epic "Who's Got My Back" are my personal favorites). The middle of the album contains the expected radio-friendly hard rock that Creed does so well. I, for one, find the quality of these songs to be superior to those produced by similar bands, such as Staind and the god-awful Puddle of Mudd. Creed is able to generate a melodies and tunes in these kinds of songs that are far above their collegues.

While I thoroughly enjoyed Creed's other 2 CDs, I personally feel that Weathered is their best CD by a decent margin. Stapp's vocal and Tremonti's guitar have never been better or more decisive. Definately pick up this CD if you liked Creed's previous work or if you just like good hard rock music a la Full Devil Jacket, Nickleback, Saliva. Stay away if you are looking for rapmetal or hardcore.
5 stars for an excellent hard rock compilation.

The person before me has got it all wrong...Creed gets no props at all!
1.Bullets - The hardest song ever put out by Creed. Has a great sound and it gives a good feeling for the rest of the album. 4.6/5
2.Freedom Fighter - A great hard tune with nice guitars and kind of melodic.4.2/5
3.Who's Got My Back? - Weird but nice and hard at around 4 Min into the song...oh yeah...its 8 min long.4.3/5
4.Signs - My least favorite song but I still think its a nice one espically toward the middle-end of it. 3.8/5
5.One Last Breath - A little too soft at the beginning but all the ppl who liked With Arms Wide Open will love this songs melodic sound.4.2/5
6. My Sacrifice - The single that started this CD. Very inspirational and uplifting. 4.8/5
7.Stand Here With Me - The best song on the CD and has a great guitar riff. 4.9/5
8.Weathered - Just a little slower with a nice SouthWestern feel. 4.0/5
9.Hide - Great sounding and well thought up music. 4.5/5
10. Dont Stop Dancing - A happy song about being tough in life and keeping your head up. 4.2/5
11.Lullaby - Nice acoustic and a bedtime song. 4.3/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Creed Rocks, October 20, 2004
This review is from: Weathered (Audio CD)
This cd is an awsome cd and by far one of the most talented music theory wise that i have heard. Scott Stapps amazing lyrics are deep but yet understandable, and Mark Tremonti's guitar playing is some of the best if not the best out there.

Track 1, Bullets is a dark sounding song filled with frantic guitar riffs, and Scott's voice screaming the chorus with deep emotion.
Track 2, Freedom Fighter is a bit more upbeat than bullets, but still with Scott's screaming is one of the hard songs on the album, and it has good guitar too.
Track 3, Who's got my back? starts with an almost mesmerising intro, then moves into a melodic verse series, with choruses that include Scott very passionately singing. I have heard this is one of the band's favorites that they played in concert.
Track 4, Signs is one of the hard songs on the album, and shows Scott's vocal variety, and yet again shows off Marks amazing abilities.
Track 5, One last breath is a song with a catchy guitar riff, and deep lyrics, about midrange for the style on this cd.
Track 6, My sacrifice is a song with amazing guitar sound, incredible lyrics, and with Scott's passionate singing.
Track 7, Stand here with me is a song with the most amazing guitar sound and riffs, and even though the singing is not comparable with the amazing guitar, the lyrics are incredible as well.
Track 8, Weathered is a song with perhaps some of the deeper lyrics on the album, but not the deepest, as well as a good variety of vocals.
Track 9, Hide is great song with even deeper lyrics, in fact this track and the two after have perhaps the deepest lyrics in the cd, and aside from the great guitar riffs, Scott's singing is amazing.
Track 10, Don't stop dancing is another great lyrical and guitar song, with the same general style as hide but with different meaning and sound.
Track 11, Lullaby is perhaps my favorite song on the cd. It combines incredible gentle accoustic guitar sounds with Scott's melodic voice and extremely heartfelt lyrics, this song almost made me cry when i first heard it, and that is hard to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful songs, February 18, 2005
By
This review is from: Weathered (Audio CD)
Creed throughout this album experimented and met with success. They fused their fast paced strong deep songs like Bullets and Signs with soft almost lullaby radio friendly tunes like Don't Stop Dancing, Lullaby, Who's Got my Back?.
I enjoyed this album for two of the three favourite songs were on this album, Signs and Who's Got My Back. My other is Illusion on Creed's platinum album My Own Prison. The last track is perfectly suited to end the album and as we found out later it also closed their career as a band when Scott Stapp went his own way.
Each song on this album is beautiful and reveals a side to the nature of Creed that has impacted on the huge fan base and the band's critics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Listen, December 11, 2001

It doesn't matter if you're a big Pearl Jam fan and are angry because there's a band out there that someone said ripped them off so you instantly agree. It doesn't matter if you're a Limp Bizkit fan and since Fred doesn't like them, you don't like them. It doesn't matter what religion you follow, even though you may have heard that Creed is a Christian band. All that matters is you listen to the heart and emotion poured into every Creed song. Formulaic? Hardly, especially if you've ever written songs before. When you realize how personal the lyrics are, and how wonderful Tremonti is at lead guitar AND bass (on this album), and just listen to the music, you quickly realize this is easily one of the best rock releases of the year. Once you've heard the CD, you'll understand how different and how diverse this album is, even compared to the previous Creed CD's. You have to listen, and then you'll understand why there's such a big Creed following. But a better suggestion, see them live. You can't call them unoriginal or a rip-off band once you've seen them actually perform the songs most people claim to have heard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Album , Stupidest Album Cover, October 4, 2004
By
This review is from: Weathered (Audio CD)
First of all , I almost wanna kill the editorial review for calling "Who's Got My Back" Zeppelinesque. I think Amazon deserves a punch for that. I mean I respect Zepplin but this is a blasphemous comparison.

I bought this record without thinking twice. There are times when words fail me and I cant describe the series of underlying emotions which are engraved in music. Weathered is pretty much Creed's best offering.

The album begins with a bang BULLETS. I couldnt beleive this was Scott Stapp screaming "I think they shoot cuz they want it". Thats what causes me to headbang and its surprisingly the only real headbanger Creed did. Worth the effort really.
"Whos Got My Back Now" impressed me with its crisp , long but not boring appeal. A bit mesmerising at times. There have been times when Ive wanted to listen to this track more than anything on the album.Next, many people said "One Last Breath" reminds them of another Creed song I refuse to name.To Each his own. However I think its simply the most soul speaking track on the album. "My sacrifice" took me forever to discover its true meaning. Not a bad track , not a great track. "Stand Here With Me" is what all my friends love but I cant stand it and I think its my least favourite track on the disc. "Weathered" has the most enlightening of lyrics. A good title track. "Dont Stop Dancing" is just an excellent song that reflects the character that embraces Scott Stapp's Soul. I think its a genuine awakening of a song.

Lullaby is something I will dedicate a small paragraph to. Its Stapp and an acoustic guitar. I dont understand why theirs a disliking for this song. I think its simply beautiful. Its something I'd sing to my girl when I look into her eyes on those long winter nights. Its a song that I will always remember Creed for. Its something beyond comprehension. Labelling it "sweet" would be a fruitless and non-effective way of appreciating it.

Weathered is truly Creed's best record.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great album!, November 20, 2001
By

I have been anxious to hear the new creed album, even more so after hearing the first single "My Sacrifice". What I heard was a group that has grown since the success of Human Clay. I loved "Higher" and "Arms wide open" and thought the rest of the album was good but not great. Many of the songs sounded the same, even so I thought it was one of the better albums to come along in some time. "Weathered" begins with four songs that are heavy in tone and then starting with the fifth song "one last breath" the album switches gears and Mark Tremonti plays some of his best to date. It is most evident in "stand here with me", could this be the return of the guitar solo? While not as prolonged as the hair band era, it's good to hear someone moving their fingers on the strings a little. The album ends softly with "don't stop dancing" and the acoustic "lullaby" both of which will appeal to fans of "arms wide open".
If you liked Creed before you will love them more after hearing this. As for all the alternative enthusiasts who have criticized Creed for being cheap imitations of Pearl Jam or Nirvana you should probably stay away. Creed sold over ten million copies of Human Clay without even a mention on MTV. How? I think it was because so many people that loved the big rock of the 70's and 80's never could embrace the alternative movement. Sure there were good songs along the way but overall the big loud sound was missed. So along comes Creed who, to me, meshes the substance of the early 90's with the bravado of the 80's. And with this album they harken back to guitar rock even more.(Let's just hope this doesn't lead to Scott Stapp sporting a mullet) What does this get us? While I fear they won't ever kill off the dreaded boy bands(there will always be 11 year old girls) with the help of MTV this time, something huge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid follow up to "Human Clay", November 21, 2001
By
This review is from: Weathered (Audio CD)
In a word, "Wow." Much of it is the Creed we know and love...Power guitar, pounding drums and the unique voice of Scott Stapp...only with a musical maturity when compared to "My Own Prison" and "Human Clay." The middle of the album is very Creed-like and shouldn't disappoint.

1. "Bullets" - Pure, unadulterated rock and roll on a level we haven't heard from Creed before.

2. "Freedom Fighter" - Driving hook and power chords.

3. "Who's Got My Back" - One of the most unique tracks, complete with Indian chanting. 8+ minutes of good, subdued music.

4. "Signs" - Competes with the first track for overall power rock and roll.

5. "One Last Breath" - More of the same Creed with a nice range of subdued guitar and a power chorus.

6. "My Sacrifice" - The first single from the album, very appropriate for mainstream fans. Solid music.

7. "Stand Here With Me" - 80's/early 90's stadium rock sound, found elsewhere on this album.

8. "Weathered" - Mellow, good groove music. Chorus picks up nicely for a good combination. Think "Higher."

9. "Hide" - More of the stadium band sound with powerful, religious undertones.

10. "Don't Stop Dancing" - A natural follow up to "Arms Wide Open" and very appropriate radio sound including backup vocals by Mrs. Stapp.

11. "Lullaby" - The surprise of the album, this is a mellow finale for an otherwise rocking album.

Overall, this is a very sound effort by Creed. I love the "hair band" sound with enough of an edge to distinguish itself nicely. Creed's best to date!
