Today the port of Liverpool is one of Britain's most successful ports and the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company , owning ports in the South East of England as well as Liverpool, is strong and thriving. Yet it did not always seem that this would be so. In "Weathering the Storm", Anthony Lynch records the financial crisis in the Mersey Docks during the period 1970-74 ans explains how it was resolved. He sets out claerly and concisely the events and the financial solutions in the 4-year struggle to establish a secure future. This is not a general history of the modern period of the port of Liverpool, dealing only with the financial crisis, but it does offer wider insights and provides a glimpse towards a future success that was unimaginable in 1970.
