IMPRESSIVE,

Along with many other people I know that are into hip-hop, I liked this album a lot. I was impressed by the fact that Evidence came with a solo that had so many solid tracks. I've always been a fan of Dilated Peoples and especially Evidence, he always delivers with clever rhymes that keep coming, bar after bar shows effort. I read the previous comments about his flow being boring and putting you to sleep but I couldn't disagree more. Unless you can't expand your listening or don't understand what he's saying or have a limited library of music or you simply take these things too seriously, I'd imagine he's not the rapper for you. One thing I like a lot is the production. Good to see Alchemist with quite a few and a great beat by DJ Khalil. Evidence also had a few productions, "I Know" and "NC to CA" stood out the most to me and were my favorites from him. Sid Roams layed down a few monster beats as well, with DJ Babu and Jake One each doing one track. Some of the guest appearances were okay, I would have prefered less actually. Two spots I really liked were from the rappers you always get nice verses from, Planet Asia and Defari. Overall this is a very solid album, I know it was received quite well by the public and it gives Evidence more credibility as an artist. The only songs I would say I wasn't feeling along with the rest were "Things You Do" and "Down In New York City". They're not bad by any means, just seemed a little out of place. My favorites were "I Know", "All Said & Done", "Mr. Slow Flow", "Believe In Me", and "Let Yourself Go" just to name a few. Evidence stayed on his game, it's good to support him and people should buy this, you won't be disappointed especially if you're a fan of Dilated Peoples.

First off, I love Dilated Peoples. I own all the albums, singles, and samplers (or so I think). I'm not a big hip hop fan but I love Rakka and Evidence. This album is amazing from start to finish, If you love Dilated then buy this right now, I wasn't disappointed, It's one of those albums I could listen to over and over. Be sure to also get The Layover EP and Cats and Dogs when it comes out.(also get the Duck Seasons and Rakka's solo album Crown Of Thorns. Keep putting out albums Evidence!

Evidence brings heat on this one,

I'm going to keep it short and simple. First, I'm a true hip hop head. There's only been a couple of albums in the past few years that have blazing from start to finish (like Below the Heavens and Madvilliany). The Weatherman can be added to that list. I mean, there's like 3 tracks that could've been let off the album but that doesn't take away from the dopeness of this LP. I feel bad because I didn't think Evidence could make such a amazing album. Don't get me wrong, he's dope, I just thought he'd be alright on the solo tip. Boy was I wrong. Cop this album, fellow hip hop head, you will not be disappointed.

Hot beats, but his flow is near average, his guest stars kills it though. It still a good album.

I really wanted to listen to this several times before I commented on it with a fair opinion. I wanted to love this album and dismiss the negative reviews that I'd read in magazines+on Amazon. The horrible truth is that there is alot of elements that are accurate in these reports. (1)Ev's flow has fallen off, no other way of saying it (any doubters listen to the 1st 2 Dilated albums then peep this right after them, hey presto), (2)Production is so similar it makes the album sound so bland. One very valid point that most of the reviews state is that Ev slowflows the album to death and thats so true. He just doesnt mix it up enough to engage the listener enough. God knows, as he states himself alot on the album, we waited long enough for the solo album so he really should've brought nothing but his "A" game to the table. With all that being said, there is simply no denying that Evidence is a ridiculously gifted lyricist+producer so when he gets it right on the album its brilliant. There are a fair amount of tracks where this happens such as "I Know", "Down in New York City", "Moment in Time" feat.Planet Asia, "All Said & Done", "Perfect Storm" feat.Rakaa, "Chase the Clouds Away", "Evidence Is Everywhere", "Line of Scrimmage" feat.Slug and "Born in LA" feat.Chace Infinite+Sick Jacken. The rest are either weak efforts from Ev or just straight boring, apart from the finale "I Still Love You" where you can feel the pain in Ev's voice when he's rapping about his mom's passing. An unusual ending for an album but a nice side of an mc that you dont really get to hear within his normal dilated restraints. Its honestly not as bad as some have said but its also nowhere as good as it shouldve been. Probably wont be put in heavy rotation, no matter how much of a Dilated fan.

Best album by Dilated since 2001,
By
This review is from: Weatherman Lp (Audio CD)
After the last two Dilated albums, I was ready to write them off as yet another talented rap group that fell off. I was very reluctanct to give this album a chance until I read other reviews of the album and was curious about all the hype. Evidence shocked with his latest effort. It is no classic by any means (an overused and extremely overrated word in today's hip hop scene) but it is a great album. I have to say that while not on the level of their debut The Platform (2000), this has to be the best effort put into a Dilated related album since their Expansion Team album (2001). Evidence sounds much more motivated than he has on the last two Dilated albums and I hope that this means more quality music for the group when they put out their next album. The production (mainly done by Evidence and Alchemist) is excellent. The lyrics are awesome and
the guest spots (Phonte & Big Pooh of Little Brother, Alchemist, Planet Asia, Defari, Slug, Res, Joe Scudda, and others) are all great pairings for Evidence. My only real complaint is that some of the interludes can become annoying. Most Recommended Tracks NC To CA (feat. Defari, Joe Scudda, and Big Pooh) A Moment In Time (feat. Planet Asia)

It took awhile..,

After multiple listens, I've finally gotten down to writing a review for Evidence's album. I'm not going to front, and say I'm a huge Dilated Peoples fan; their lone album in my collection is Neighborhood Watch, and that's because of "Walk This Way" with Kanye. I respect them as a group, but from what I've heard from the group, their work simply lacks that "IT" factor. They're great lyricists, and their production can be dope from time to time, but as rappers, the group doesn't really possess anything more than your local freestylers do.
In my opinion, Evidence fairs better on his own than he does in a group. He is allowed to get much more personal, reflecting on events that happened in his life with no restrictions. His smooth voice is appealing, and his lyrics are certainly above average. However, there's just so many missing factors to Evidence. The charisma isn't there; he can't draw you into a song with his mic presence alone. The monotone flow can work on a few songs, but it gets very tedious over the course of an entire album. I realize he's got a song on here called Mr. Slowflows, and at times on this album, he almost does 'slowflows us to death'; however, it's death from boredom. Behind the boards, Evidence is gifted; on the writing aspect of his profession, he's equally talented. In this review, I'm not denying that Evidence isn't a talented artist, but there are just times on this album where you wish someone else was in his place; someone who can inject more emotion into their flow, and switch it up when things start to wear on you, and become too monotonous. Taken in smaller doses, this album is easier to appreciate; listening from beginning to end though, as the original reviewer said, it's hard to even stay awake. This album certainly has its moments, don't get me wrong; A Moment In Time, featuring Planet Asia, is one of the dopest songs I've heard all year; the same can be said about the sentimental Chase The Clouds Away. Hot & Cold, Line of Scrimmage, and I Still Love You are more tight tracks that any hardcore fan of Dilated Peoples should adore. I like the album; I'm sure it'll get a lot more rotation from me than other albums that're bound to come out this year, and dissapoint. But, despite how well-crafted the package may appear on the outside, it ultimately lacks the qualities that make an album classic. Fans who've been with DP since they The Platform should wind up in love with this album, but casual fans of the group such as myself won't be able to appreciate it as much. If you're a hip-hop head, it's worth checking out either way; just know what you're getting before hand.

I initially wanted to give this a 4.5. Classic? No. But it's damn close. Give a damn what anyone says. I will say, everyone is entitled to there opinion. But give props where it's due. This album is strong. Lyrically, Production and even track order. It doesn't really have any track that I skip. So, once again, give it a shot. But do be advised, don't jump into this if you haven't listened to Evidence or Dilated prior to this release.

Top 10 for rap AOTY...4.5/5,
By
This review is from: Weatherman Lp (Audio CD)
Its been awhile since I've heard a new rap album with dope lyrics, a sick flow and nice beats to go with it. Evidence is an underrated producer...but his flow is the sickest in the underground right now. He still gets help from other producers and a couple of guests to go with the flow of the album. I like what he tried to do with the skits. Good idea but it could've been better done if someone wanted to do a concept album. But he didn't want to do that. He wanted a sick album and he got it on point. At 21 tracks, with 4 skits/interludes, there are no filler songs. They're all dope from top to bottom.
No, I'm not saying this is a classic, just because its a good album doesn't make it a classic. But its a damn good album. I didn't want to give it 5 stars cause I only give them to classics. It takes awhile to get hooked but once you're hooked, you're gonna be playing this for awhile now. DON'T SLEEP ON THIS. 4.5/5 stars. -Peace

The Weatherman LP,
This review is from: Weatherman Lp (Audio CD)
I have heard the best tracks on Hip Hop websites, but aftering buying the album I saw the up and downs in this effort. He comes with interesting flows on most tracks, but some of the beats are not worth mentioning. I also think the hooks could of been better considering who he is known for being with. I think this album is worth the money you will spend, but you must listen to this with an open mind!
