About the Artist

Angela Hagenbach

Angela Hagenbach is one of America's best, fresh voices in jazz. She was critically acclaimed for her 1994 debut recording Come Fly with Me. She released Angela Hagenbach and Musa Nova in 1995 which features latin jazz; and her second solo recording, Feel the Magic in 1997. A third solo recording Weaver of Dreams will be released in the fall of 2000. "Blessed with impeccable pitch, Angela covers her full two and one-half octave range with ease, clarity and effortless agility" writes John Leisenring of PitchWeekly. Her sultry contralto voice offers a rich palette of colors from which to choose. Hagenbach moves easily within all jazz styles and excels in her interpretations of jazz standards and latin music.

By the mid-1980’s, Hagenbach had built a successful career as a professional model that took her to the fashion capitals of the world. Her professional music career was launched in Kansas City in 1990 and by 1994 she founded her own label, Amazon Records. In 1996, she began publishing original compositions through her publishing company, Eden’s Gate Music/ASCAP. Some of these originals are featured on her recordings. "She possesses an extraordinary range, excellent phrasing and a singular style," writes Patricia Meyers of JazzTimes. In the fall of 1998, Angela toured Africa as an USIA Jazz Ambassador. Ingram’s Magazine selected Hagenbach as ‘Best Kansas City Musician’ for 1999 & 2000 and James Horowitz, Director of Jazz Aspen at Snowmass, has named her an ‘Artist of the New Millennium’.

In the spring of 2000, The Angela Hagenbach Trio was chosen to tour as Jazz Ambassadors to the world under the auspices of the United States Information Agency and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The World Tour included performances in Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Oman, Uganda, Ethiopia, India, Thailand and Malaysia.

When in Kansas City, she also works regularly as a voice artist, performing commercials and jingles for radio and television in addition to regular performances in jazz clubs throughout the region. Angela Hagenbach’s talents are placing her in the international spotlight for the second time. As a performer, clinician, and educator she has graced the stage at venues like The Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado; Jazz in Marciac, France, festivals, colleges and concert halls throughout the world. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Amazon Records is an artist owned and operated record label that was created as a vehicle to release 1994 debut recording, Come Fly With Me. In 1996, Eden's Gate Music was formed to publish original compositions, and establish membership with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Amazon Records is committed to bringing you a sound investment in jazz, an American international treasure and a vital part of American history. We are proud members and supporters of the International Association of Jazz Educators. To help further our growth and understanding of this important facet of the music industry, Amazon Records joined the National Association of Independent Record Distributors in 1997. We challenge ourselves and the talented emerging jazz musicians, composers, lyricists, and future Amazon Records’ recording artists to blend their voices into the world's wealth and artistry of jazz——to share our "secrets" with a global audience. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GEM !, November 6, 2001
This review is from: Weaver of Dreams (Audio CD)
I loved this CD. Angela Hagenbach is a wonderful singer. Great voice with a beautiful vibrato. She can swing standards or latin numbers in a subtle, unhurried way. She will remind you sometimes Nancy Wilson. And her backing band with Joe Cartwright on piano, Danny Embrey on guitar, Todd Strait on drums is superb. I especially enjoyed Return to paradise, You turned the tables on me and It had better be tonight. Pure delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the best!, September 23, 2005
This review is from: Weaver of Dreams (Audio CD)
What a superwoman! The most complete voice in modern time, placed in the most beautiful woman!
The CD is a collection of songs that match her voice perfectly, and she use that voice in a way that I thought only Ella F. and Sarah Vaughan could do. I'm loosing contact with reality when I listen to this album.

And believe it or not, this record, in fact no record at all by Angela, can be bought in Sweden!!! Shame!

I'm in love!
