Honestly this rail is well built and once adjusted it is absolutely 100% solid. I just put 800 rounds down my AR this morning using 62gr rounds and this thing stayed tight. Tighter than ... well ... never mind this is amazon. I'll say this. I have a really nice and custom AR and usually I don't skimp on things. I got this because I needed it overnight and it was right in front of me. It is staying on my AR that I use on a consistent basis for patrol, practice, competition, and everything else. I probably have about 2k into the AR as it sits and I see no reason to swap this piece out for a DD or LaRue or anything like that. Perfectly functional and durable. It is actually NCStar (the listing I bought said Weaver and was sold and fulfilled by Amazon via the Prime! Yay!) which is decent-ish on their reputation - at the end of the day this thing is aluminum and milspec. It has plenty of room for mounting scope rings on top of it etc. All you have to really do is adjust a small set screw and bing bang boom you are done and it is mounted up. Took me 5 minutes. A little Kroil or CLP on the springs helps tons with removal and installation as far as taking it on and off and in general. I have no idea what or why people are complaining which is why I have taken the time to write this review. I almost didn't buy it because of the whining and complaining on here. I am here to tell ya'll honestly that there is no reason to not purchase this rail. 100% good to go!

Nothing spectacular either way, fair fit and finish, solid. The clamp lever is adjustable for clamping force, however when I have it adjusted for what I feel is a secure clamp, it won't completely release from the rail with just the lever. I have to release the lever AND loosen the screw to get the side clamp to clear the rail. So, it may not fit your needs in a life and death situation. But if you have a minute or two, it will release without needing more than your fingers to loosen the screw after releasing the lever. My results were as mounted on a Colt 6920LE.

Keep in mind, I give this mount 4 stars because it does work and it is less than a quarter the cost of most of the others out there. Just make sure that you pay attention when you are re-mounting it to your rail because the aluminum is not "aircraft-grade" or "hard-anodized" or something. It will bend out of shape if it is not fully seated on the rail and you apply enough pressure to the locking mechanism. I was able to hammer it back in shape but who knows what that did to its overall strength and stability.
I will say, though, that even with the abuse I put it through a scope on this does stay zeroed if you lock it back in the same place. Overall, it is worth the money but I wouldn't send this out to our troops or anything.

These mounts can't be beat for the cost!! After a few adjustments and some loctite on the side set screw bolt for desired tightness - you'll be good to go!! Liked the mount so much that I got a second one. Wish they would make some at different lengths so as to accomodate smaller accessories such as lasers, lights and so on. These units are well made and will definitely take abuse.

Defective - Set Screw Too Short,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AR15 Weaver ¾" Riser with Quick Release Weaver Mount (Sports)
Like a previous reviewer, my set screw was manufactured too short. It actually bottomed out before it was able to get tight. I considered replacing it with a small hex bolt that I had, however, I am worried that this "rigged" assembly would not hold zero. It seems that you either get a good or bad one of these mounts - I got a bad one.

Very nice quck release for the AR platform,
This review is from: AR15 Weaver ¾" Riser with Quick Release Weaver Mount (Sports)
Once adjusted for tension it locks on strong and maintains zero when removed then reattached. Probably not durable enough for serious extended combat operations, but way cool for hunting or plinking purposes if you want to quickly switch between your carry handle sights and a scope. Excellent buy at the price.

Pretty good for the price,

I have this mounted on a RRA flat top AR-15. As far as i can tell, it doesn't hold the zero perfectly, probably about an inch off. I haven't really had time to test it extensively tho. But its not bad for the price. It can be a little tricky to adjust the tension, but it seems to grip firmly. I like to be able to switch from scope to dot sight to irons frequently and this makes for a quick and tool-less transition.

Truth in advertising,

This review is from: AR15 Weaver ¾" Riser with Quick Release Weaver Mount (Sports)
I'll admit I was concerned buying this riser. My general perception of NcStar is that it's economical to buy but not always the highest quality. I guess they couldn't go wrong with a simple mechanical design though. This riser functions exactly as advertised with minor adjustments. As other reviews have stated, there is a set screw and retaining nut that must be adjusted to allow the riser to be placed on or removed from the rails freely but also to hold it in place firmly when clamped down. It takes a little finagling and I threw some blue loctite on just in case. I mounted a scope to my QD and if I hold the whole thing by that scope and shake it the riser stays in place and holds zero. I would definitely recommend this product for anyone like me that wants more versatility from scope to iron sight.

Mediocre,

I could not get it to tighten down enough to stay in place and then the adjustment screw broke off while I and I had to improvise with a small hex bolt. It doesn't seem to be of particularly high quality and the metal used for the quick release assembly seems rather weak. However, it does work once I added my own adjustment bolt and it does raise an item up.

I still haven't tested if the scope I mounted on this riser is able to keep it's zero, but it looks very secure. At first, I thought it seemed loose, but after figuring out how to tighten it, it seemed rock solid.
