5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Song of Sanctuary Gifted to our Souls, December 9, 2000

Short and sweet. I have never heard a collection of music in an unfamiliar tongue move me to the edge of awe. The voices ring with concord and harmony. They are not schooled in the institutional sense. They are educated to hear and transpose the content of Great Beauty and Wisdom to the minds of those less privilaged: those of us, native and otherwise, who are unable to access their world, unable to find the way home. These are the voices of women who nurture, support and sustain individually and collectivly the heart of Women's traditional and perhaps contemporary roles within Native American culture. They come from various backgrounds, nations and locales but they come with one intent. They teach us why song is so very sacred, so very powerful among the people. They share their joy, beauty, simplicity, strength and courage. I thank all the participants for gifting me this music. It has restored a large part of my spirit. Listen for yourself. If you share a drop of our blood, your heart should hear it's home.

4.0 out of 5 stars My review of Weaving The Strands, December 19, 1999

This review is from: Weaving The Strands: Music By Contemporary Native American Women (Audio CD)
I have listened to the tracks available for preview. I repeated each track four times due to a poor connection on my end. The title track was good, but the others just blew me away. These are some powerful, moving melodies. They touch you deep within your soul, as excellent music should. I would recommend that you carefully listen to them and then decide for yourself. You will not be wasting your time. ENJOY and let your spirit find its wings once more through these songs. Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Haunting, Inspirational, December 18, 2000

This review is from: Weaving The Strands: Music By Contemporary Native American Women (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD for myself and enjoy it more each time it is played. I own many CD's of various Native American drumming groups, flutes, and singers, this has to be one of the best. Many languages, styles and much beauty are contained in this creation of songs from popular Native American women. A work of art and a gift from Spirit.
