1.0 out of 5 stars Should study English before writing a book
The book reads like a bad dream rendered in ebonics. For the author, the web is Saturday night TV. I would highly recommend avoidance of this book. I hate saying this, but Microsoft publishes far better books on this subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Addition..., December 14, 2005
This review is from: Web Design & Development Black Book: The Ultimate Reference for Advanced Web Designers (Paperback)
After reading this book, I was able to start my own web design business, http://www.stormfrontproductions.net. SFP has grown considerably over the last year, solely based on creating quality web sites (which was learned from this book). It focuses on the basics for creating professional web sites for yourself and your future clients. I recommend it to all of our clients looking to update their web site.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take A More Adventurous Approach To Designing Websites!, November 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Web Design & Development Black Book: The Ultimate Reference for Advanced Web Designers (Paperback)
The latest trends in Web development have produced exciting new technologies that offer Website designers the ability to produce visually appealing interactive Websites. Scott Jarol and Marisa Pena have teamed up to write Web Design & Development Black Book to offer Website designers the ability to produce brilliant results in light of recent developments within the industry.       With the release of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape's 4 as well, new features are now available for use. The authors provide their readers with the instruction they need to use technologies such as animated graphics, cascading style sheets, database publishing, Dynamic HTML (DHTML), frames, interactive lighting effects, multimedia, sounds, tables, and more!      The authors casually walk their readers through the use of respected programs including Cool Edit 96, GIF Construction Set, and Map This! Readers will learn how to use them to create animated, image map, and sound files for online use. These features will liven up any Website!      The accompanying CD contains the complete source code and graphics for the many projects in the book, as well as animated graphics, helps, and a number of shareware and trial versions of popular programs such as Director, Paint Shop Pro, Map This!, Shockwave and others mentioned in the book!      This book is recommended for intermediate through advanced users, although novices could apply themselves to mastering it. It will definitely challenge Website designers of all skill levels to take a more adventurous approach to designing Websites for themselves and others. It could also give them a competitive edge in the business world. Are you up to the challenge?

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, March 8, 2008
This review is from: Web Design & Development Black Book: The Ultimate Reference for Advanced Web Designers (Paperback)
Though the book is a bit outdated (about 10 years old), it is an excellent book, with quite a bit of info, techniques, and tricks I am learning for the first time. It is an excellent addition to any web designer's library.
