3.0 out of 5 stars no commentary on why websites were chosen, November 16, 2005
This review is from: Web Design Index 4 (Paperback)
Another collection of 1000 websites considered well designed by the publisher. As with other books in this series, there are screen shots of the main page at each site. The book also has a CD with those pages saved, so that you can view these in a browser. This seems a little redundant. Just knowing the URL can get you to the actual page and the rest of those websites. Though of course a given website might have changed since the book was published.

The biggest drawback is simply the lack of commentary as to why each website was chosen. Even a brief paragraph on each might have value to the reader, in suggesting what the editors say in a website as distinctive. Think perhaps of anthologies of short stories. Typically, each story is prefaced by a short introduction written by the editor, to give the story some context. A similar approach here would have been useful.
