4.0 out of 5 stars for making MVC applications, May 30, 2007
This review is from: Web Dynpro for ABAP (Hardcover)
The book is mostly about how to use a recent SAP user interface, offered under the rubric of the WD4A framework. One trivial but immediate suggestion is that perhaps SAP could have chosen a catchier name than WD4A. Just like HP used to do. Gives you an idea of the specialised nature of the topic, and how it's mostly for engineers and coders.

Much of the text describes the various GUI facilities available to you. Pointless to go through these one by one. Suffice to say that SAP seems to have furnished a comprehensive framework. Making it relatively easy to build a customised application. It is important to note that the issues are not entirely GUI. The Web Dynpro uses the standard MVC design pattern approach to building a web server application. You should be well familiar with this.

This is a great book for someone wants to learn ABAP webdynpro. The examples in the book are solid and easy to follow. However, there are several errors and omissions that will leave reader confused. Maybe it should be proofread better.

I am SAP developer with over 10 years of ABAP and overall SAP experience. When implementing the examples in the book, I found myself have to rely on my ABAP knowledge to filling the "holes". I think this book is prefect for me, an experienced ABAPer who wants to learn ABAP webdynpro. If your ABAP experience is not as extensive, you may struggle a little bit.
