Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

WebMaster, Second Edition, is an informative and often entertaining guide to building and running a Web site. This volume is useful for potential Web masters who wish to run their site off of Windows 95 or NT. While it is geared toward beginners, WebMaster covers every aspect of creating and maintaining your site, including setting up the enclosed trial version of O'Reilly Web Server software, writing good HTML, and adding goodies like multimedia, Java applets, and ActiveX controls. More experienced readers will benefit from the interviews and commentary by professional Web masters, as well as the comprehensive appendix, which contains a list of standard and proposed HTML tags, a terms glossary, and a selection of other resources for more information. If you're just getting started and don't know where to begin, this book will help you earn your Web master wings in no time. In addition to O'Reilly Web Server, the CD-ROM contains HTML editing software and graphics and multimedia tools.

2.0 out of 5 stars if you want to read a comix book-this is a good one..., December 4, 1998

This review is from: WebMaster Windows, Second Edition: How to Build Your Own World-Wide Web Server Without Really Trying (Paperback)
The title of the book reflets the exact attitude of the authors when they were writing it "... without really trying". The book is very brief and a little outdated. It seems like the book was written for a 2nd grader: the font is huge, and you know what that means - the book could be twice smaller the size it's now. Basically, if you want to know the info that was written in that book, just buy Building Your Own WebSite by O'Reilly, i think it's much better. If you get your hands on this book, read it, it's not gonna kill you, But I would not spend my money on it, not worth it.
