5.0 out of 5 stars Best Brush for Grillular Hygene
I've had several of these over the years and they work great. I never wear one out - I think they get carted off by the neighbors or marauding coyotes.

The flexible brass bristles won't scrape the enamel off your grill bars and are great for softer accumulations. The scraper blade has a half circle "nip" out of it that fits the contour of the grill bars...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good grill brush, but not the best price.
I'm not sure Amazon will print this review, but here goes...

The brush itself is very good. Sturdy and well designed. The handle is long enough to let you scrub the grill while it's still warm and strong enough to let you use some elbow-grease. The bristles are densely packed for better scrubbing. If they were longer you could get a bit more of the grate at one...

I've had several of these over the years and they work great. I never wear one out - I think they get carted off by the neighbors or marauding coyotes.

The flexible brass bristles won't scrape the enamel off your grill bars and are great for softer accumulations. The scraper blade has a half circle "nip" out of it that fits the contour of the grill bars if you have a really ugly mess to remove (those slathered up ribs you laid on there before the vollyball game). The longer handle on this model lets you keep the hair on your fingers if the fire is still going.

The leather loop allows you to hang it on the grill or the arm of your lawn chair so it stays within reach. You may have to fend off the local cats and dogs if you hang it too close to the ground. Maybe they need to come out with a quick draw holster for it to solve that one! On second thought, a Prazi "Big Lug" on your tool belt might work. Yeah, Barbeque Sauce and seasoning in the pockets of the tool belt. This could turn into a Tool Crib thing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good grill brush, May 16, 2000
This review is from: Weber 1647 18-Inch Grill Brush (Lawn & Patio)
I have only minimal complaints after using this. If the brush had a firmer gripping surface, it might make for a little easier brushing. For that fact alone, I dropped it a full star.

Don't get me wrong; this is a GREAT BRUSH! If you are looking for something good to scrape your grill with, this won't hurt. However, I personally would make a few improvements, only to the gripping area.

I'm not sure Amazon will print this review, but here goes...

The brush itself is very good. Sturdy and well designed. The handle is long enough to let you scrub the grill while it's still warm and strong enough to let you use some elbow-grease. The bristles are densely packed for better scrubbing. If they were longer you could get a bit more of the grate at one time, but I don't think they'd scrub as well (since it's the tips of the bristles that do the real scrubbing and not the sides). The curved scraper does a good job getting each individual rail of the grate clean too.

I have only two complaints. First, the wood can get pretty dirty after a while and is hard to clean. Second, this isn't the best price I've seen for this brush. I've seen it at almost half price at the local [store]. ...

Anyhow, if you're buying a grill (like I did from Amazon) then definitely get yourself a good brush like this to keep it clean. If you're still using steel wool to clean the grill, you'll like this much better. Don't use it to clean the dog...long story.

Hope this helps and good luck with your purchase!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the right product for the job, June 27, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 1647 18-Inch Grill Brush (Lawn & Patio)
I have owned several grill brushes with brass bristles and they have all done the same thing. Unfortunately, this one is no different. After a while the bristles mashed down and became next to useless. The scraper is not the right size for most grills, mine included, so it's not a very effective tool unless you are lucky enough to have the exact right gauge of rod on your grill.

If you are shopping around for a grill brush, I highly recommend a different product called the Grill Wizard. I found out about this from America's Test Kitchen (great show) and they rated it the top, so I bought one. Couldn't be happier.

I'm the one who wrote the "Good grill brush, but not the best price" review. Amazon took out the name of the store I referenced in my review, but I was very impressed that they posted it. In fact, they made it a spotlight review.

Fair is fair, so I have to now say that the price on this brush today ...is excellent. Coupled with how much I still like the brush after almost a summer's worth of heavy duty use, I'd give this brush 5 stars (up from the 4 I gave it last time due to the price issue). I can also add that the bristles hold up quite well after a lot of use, as does the little scraper. The little leather loop at on the handle broke, but I tied it back together and it's been hanging happily on my BBQ since then.

Hope this is helpful (again) and good luck with your purchase!

Before, when I went to buy a new brush I would always get the cheapies; I thought they were all the same, except some came in plastic while others came in wood or aluminum. I was wrong. You do get what you pay for when buying a grill brush, so buy this one! The bristles are stiff enough to clean up all the grit, yet soft enough to not damage your grate. The brush feels nice and sturdy, it feels well built. Also, this brush has a handy scraper on the end which is extremely handy with the really tough crusties (on your GRILL silly).

5.0 out of 5 stars Show me a better grill brush and I'll buy it!, September 13, 2004

I read how people have weber brushes and think they should last more than a year... WOW...I wish mine lasted that long. I'll wear out 2 in a summer, but I use the heck out of them! I've tried those plastic ones that melt and the cheap knockoffs with half the bristles made of steel and worn them out in 2 cleanings.
Brass: is hard enough to clean, but won't damage your grill...
Wood: handle is long and doesn't melt or get hot to quick...
Scraper: scrapes all my webers just fine.
Pick up a generic brush in one hand and a Weber brush in the other hand and follow your heart.
Your brush should be tough, but also wear out before your grill does. Look at it this way. If you used your weber brush to clean your dishes you wouldn't be going through so many sponges..think about it

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant tool and a tip how to clean it, June 2, 2005
This review is from: Weber 1647 18-Inch Grill Brush (Lawn & Patio)
This brush is brilliant. It doesn't ruin your grate like other steel brushes does (this one is not made of steel/iron). So it'll save you the frustration of buying a new grate because the other rusts.

Heres a tip on how to clean it. Mix a bowl of warm water with wash machine soap or a tab. Leave the head of the brush in the water overnight and behold - almost as good as new. Over time the wood/handle near the head will lose its protection, but rather that than an ugly brush :-)
