Amazon.com Review

Weber's Genesis Silver B brings the convenience and precision of gas cooking to the great outdoors. This impressive system has enough cooking space for grilling gourmets to comfortably cook six large steaks, but the real value in this grill lies in its durability. The porcelain-coated steel lid is exceptionally strong and designed never to rust, fade, or peel. Three long-lasting stainless-steel burners--each with its own temperature control--cook countless meals evenly and efficiently. And the heat- and weather-resistant plastic work surfaces, handles, and wheels stand up to years of use.

Using this gas grill is easy. The push-button ignition system means you don't have to fuss with flints or matches. The grates and heat distributors are made from easy-to-clean porcelain-enameled steel and are designed to prevent flare-ups. The funneled bottom tray directs grease and cooking juices into a tidy, removable catch pan. And, if you're always wondering just how much propane is left in your tank, you'll love the accurate and easy-to-read fuel gauge that comes standard on this grill.

The barbecue pioneers at Weber know how to load up a grill with extras. The Silver B comes with a cooking box thermometer that doubles as a meat thermometer for more precise cooking needs. A rear warming rack and hanging basket are handy for keeping foods hot without overcooking. Utensil hooks and a sizeable exterior work area keep you organized as you spice, baste, poke, and turn your culinary creations. And a cookbook introduces you to an impressive array of grilling standards, from sizzlin' soul food to haute cuisine.

This grill comes partially assembled with clear step-by-step instructions. Even inexperienced grill mechanics can put it together in about an hour.

Product Description

When it's time to step up in grilling performance, the Genesis Silver B will keep the whole family satisfied. To fire up the party, the Crossover Ignition System lets you light all of the burners in succession with the push of one button. Then 36,000 Btus per hour course through three stainless steel burners that are individually adjustable for maximum temperature control. Porcelain-enameled Flavorizer Bars above the burners virtually eliminate flare-ups because cooking juices drip onto the bars and are turned to savory smoke. With the expansive porcelain-enameled cooking grates, you can grill an entire succulent turkey-so why not invite the in-laws? To help show off your grilling prowess, there's a handy warming rack for finished food, as well as a convenient Warm-Up Basket for rolls and bread. Three tool holders keep the essentials at your fingertips. The thermoset work surfaces resist heat and weather and are a breeze to clean. And don't worry about running out of gas mid-meal-the precise fuel gauge on the 20-pound tank tells you how much you have left. Locking casters and crackproof all-weather wheels keep you on the road to grilling success. Propane gas models come with a 20-pound propane tank. Limited lifetime warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Weber - An Excellent Value, March 31, 2000

The Weber Genesis series gas grill is an exceptionally versatile grill. Besides being easy to assembly, it is very well constructed and easy to maintain (easy to clean on the inside!) We have had ours for over six years and there is not one sign of rust. Sure, we've had to replace "expendable parts" but it has not been the annual replacement of the burner (which we have yet to do) or grates that you experience with many of the lesser priced grills. The only parts we've replaced thus far have been the ignition and "flavorizer" bars (heat "deflectors" over the burners;) each has been replaced only once. The burner arrangement is the best in the industry, IMHO. In all but the smallest of regular Weber gas grills, there are three burners that run the width of the grill (two in the smallest) as opposed to the usual "H" burner arrangement in most other grills. Each is individually controlled which I especially like - I can put fish in the middle of the grill, have the outer two burners on a medium-high with the middle one off, and the fish comes out great! That's not to say you can't burn food. It's just a tad more difficult to blame the grill with the Weber. Another nice feature is the fact that the gas gauge is reasonably accurate. I've got three tanks for gas that I use and have not had a "premature burnout" with any of them due to an inaccurate gas gauge.

A very good recipe book comes with the grill. One of the accessories I consider "must have" is the rotisserie. Unlike other rotisseries that come with a two piece skewer, the Weber comes with a one-piece skewer as well as a counter-weight used to counter-balance the skewer as it rotates. Roast leg of lamb cooked on the Weber is superb!

5.0 out of 5 stars BBQMadness, March 20, 2000
By
Michael J. Bell (Portland, Or USA) - See all my reviews
In the past I have purchased the less expensive BBQs which have got me by each summer. This year I decided I was tired of uneven heat, replacing the inner rusted out inner burners each year. I just purchased the silver model, planing to spend hours putting it together finding missing parts or parts which wouldn't fit together. I was so surprised when an hour later I was cooking away. Even cooking, No burning, great flavor, cooked just right. The Weber Que was my spring present to me to enjoy for many years to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fact from fiction, May 15, 2000

(REAL NAME)
My wife and I purchased one of Webers Genesis Silver B gas grills after having almost every known grill on the market. We grill out at least three times a week and have been doing it over 20 years. After trying every food you can think of on the Weber, I can honestly say it tastes better than what I was used to with the other grills. The only down side I can see is the heat is still uneven, cooking faster on one side of the grill than the other. I have tried every burner combination and e-mailed Weber about the problem to see if there was something I could do to correct it, but they never bothered to get in touch with me. So maybe customer service isn't the greatest, but on the plus side, it does cook better, is made to last for years, and overall, I feel is a better grill than most. I am being as honest as possible, and I consider myself knowing how to cook with the best of them. If I could get Weber to answer me about the uneven cooking and if there is anything to be done about it, I would be totally satisfied.
