Amazon.com Review

Weber's Genesis Silver C is a serious grill for serious cooks, bringing the convenience and precision of gas cooking to the great outdoors. This impressive system has enough cooking space for grilling gourmets to comfortably cook six large steaks and sauté a side dish, but the real value in this grill lies in its durability. The porcelain-coated steel lid is exceptionally strong and designed never to rust, fade, or peel. Three long-lasting stainless-steel burners--each with its own temperature control--cook countless meals evenly and efficiently. And the heat- and weather-resistant plastic work surfaces, handles, and wheels stand up to years of use.

Using this gas grill is easy. The push-button ignition system means you don't have to fuss with flints or matches. The grates and heat distributors are made from easy-to-clean porcelain-enameled steel and are designed to prevent flare-ups. The funneled bottom tray directs grease and cooking juices into a tidy, removable catch pan. And this natural gas model comes with a 12-foot quick-disconnect hose for easy hookup.

The barbecue pioneers at Weber know how to load up a grill with extras. The Silver C comes with a cooking box thermometer that doubles as a meat thermometer for more precise cooking needs. A rear warming rack and hanging basket are handy for keeping foods hot without overcooking. Utensil hooks and a sizeable exterior work area keep you organized as you spice, baste, poke, and turn your culinary creations. And a cookbook introduces you to an impressive array of grilling standards, from sizzlin' soul food to haute cuisine.

This grill comes partially assembled with clear step-by-step instructions. Even inexperienced grill mechanics can put it together in about an hour.

Product Description

Everybody in the backyard. The Genesis Silver C offers lots of handy features for grilling enthusiasts like you. The 10,000 BTU-per-hour side burner allows you to make side dishes right there at the grill, so you don't have to run back and forth to the kitchen. You can light all three burners successively using the Crossover Ignition System, then adjust each burner individually for ultimate control of the 36,000 BTU-per-hour input. Just above the flames, Weber's patented Flavorizer Bars eliminate flare-ups by turning cooking juices into flavorful smoke. Any excess juices run into the removable drip pan for easy clean-up. Invite the neighbors, since the expansive cooking area allows you to cook several full racks of ribs at once on the porcelain-enameled cooking grates. The sturdy swing-up Thermoset work table gives you room for extra utensils and sauces and folds out of the way when you don't need it. The all-weather wheels are crackproof and the locking casters keep the unit in place. Natural gas models have a 12-foot quick-disconnect hose. Limited lifetime warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Weber is better, November 11, 2000

Before purchasing my grill, I read a magazine article, which rated gas grills. This article compared things like temperature consistency across the grill surface including the corners, functionality and durability. The Weber Genesis did the best of the grills compared. I know this is more money than many other grills, but trust me it is worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why I Love my New Weber Grill, May 29, 2001

This is simply the best grill I've ever worked with. It was recommended that I look into Weber when I started shopping for a grill and I liked everything I've read about the brand. Although it took a little longer than I expected to have it delivered ..., but it was worth the wait. The assembly was easy, once the basic chassis was put together. It was a matter of sliding everything in place and tighten. The grill was easy to use as well. The temperature is so easy to control and the side burner was definitely helpful. No more running in and out of the house while grilling. A+++++

5.0 out of 5 stars The last grill you will ever buy!, July 10, 2001

I've had a few charcoal grills and gas grills that cost me more than a few dineros. The last LP gas grill I owned practically got rusted up and was falling apart (Paid some 200 buckaroos for that too some 5 years back) not to mention the worst thing is running out of propane right in the middle of a bbq. Should I lug the tank for refill or should I toss everything into the oven? Hmmm, talk about interruption! Anyway, when I had my house built, I decided to cough up [the money] just to run a natural gas line to the back of the house so I can get this grill that I've heard raves about. Now I can see first hand what the raves are all about. The grill was very simple to assemble. No little parts beside the screws and the construction looks very sturdy and solid. The only problem I had was hooking up the gas line as I needed a few adaptors from the local hardware store to "downsize and gender change" the gas line connection. The hookup has a quick disconnect type too so after you are done, you can unplug and store away the gas line cleanly (for those what want to wheel it into a shed afterwards). After attaching the gas line, everything just fired up and off I grill and man, what a grill it is! The entire cooking area burns very evenly. I was totally suprised to see the meat I stuffed in the corner cooks just as evenly as the pieces right in the middle. There seems to be no hot spot or cold spots anywhere if you fire up all the burners. Also I seem to grill better as I have yet to burn anything even when I forgot about the meat left on the grill (I remember those blackened piece of meat with my old grill...grrr). I am excited to bbq now and am collecting more recipe just to find an excuse to fire up the ol' Weber. Just got done with a 10 hour Texas smoked beef brisket on it for the first time and it turned out perfect. Sniff, sniff, it just bring a tear to my eye. It's true what they say, "Everybody eventually buys a Weber!" BTW, if your grill is going to be exposed to weather, spring for the matching Weber cover. It's a bit more..but Weber stuffs screams quality. It will last you a long time. I'm gonna get that rotisserie kit next to try out on my new toy.
