This review is from: Weber 2780001 Summit S-670 Grill, Propane, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
This is one solid grill. The panels, grates, double walled cabinet doors, side shelves all are robust in materials and design. The assembly was minimal, I had it together in 15 minutes. At first I thought the handle lamps and lighted panel were gimmick, but actually are very functional. At 70K BTU, this grill packs a mean punch. It zoomed up to 700'F in less than 10min, so cleaning this afterwards is a breeze. My first use were two 2lb chickens on the rotisserie; the S-670 performed gallantly. If I were to pick a weak spot, it would be the caster wheels; they are a bit on the light-duty side especially when compared with the rest of the grill. I suggest registering warranty by phone, the customer service rep will share with you use and care instructions not as obvious in the manual.

Great Grill!,
This review is from: Weber 2780001 Summit S-670 Grill, Propane, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
This is the best Grill on the market. Easy clean up, great searing burner and you really look like you know what your doing when your grilling...lol The only negatives are the wheels and the smoker burner. The wheels are to small for such a heavy grill. The smoke taste does not get into the food due to the lack of some kind of venting system. I was really hoping the smoker burner was going to work out. Otherwise for grilling, indirect cooking and searing, this is the best. Also Weber customer service and support are the best.

I, too, ordered through Rainbow Appliance through Amazon.com. It was a great experience (great price, fast shipping, no damage).
As for the grill, it is wonderful. Heats quickly and holds heat well, and has plenty of useful features. The grill lights are thoughtful and work well. It's also nice to look at, so my wife approves. The warranty and American made quality reinforced my decision to invest in this grill. For those who are wondering about the sear burner, here are my thoughts. I recently purchased and returned another brand new large grill that had an infrared sear burner (from a large discount member warehouse store). It was returned for being of generally low quality and because of poor customer service. While its infrared burner worked fairly well, it was difficult to light. Also, when you didn't need the IR burner, the entire area of the grill that is dedicated to it became a place for "baking" your food since you couldn't use it as a regular burner. With the Weber 670, the sear burner is in between two regular burners in the center of the grill, so you can use it to give a good sear, or you can turn it off and just use the regular burners. It works very well. Buy yourself an extra long set of grilling tools. FYI, even without using the sear burner, though, you can get a good sear on this grill. I just like the extra BTUs that it brings for quickly searing steaks. One other thing. I use the side burner often. Like other features, it is high quality. However, with my sturdy pots and pans, it is almost too hot on the lowest setting for simmering with the lid on (e.g., cooking a side rice dish), as it boils vigorously rather than gently simmering. That's the closest I can come to a complaint about this grill. I highly recommend it.

I ordered from Rainbow Appliance, Best Price and fast shipping. The grill went together fast in about 30 minutes. It is a solid well built grill that lights with a turn of a knob and heats up to 600 degrees in minutes. It cooks everything so well that I now look like a top chef. The high heat sears your meat, fish, chicken and, vegetables nicely. The grill lights work great and not a gimmick to me. The rotisserie will turn you into a cook of juicy meats and performs turning two chickens without and issue.
The hard part for me was the smoker box with the dedicated burner. I recommend following the instructions on page 25 of the manual to avoid burning the chips up too quickly. Once I got it, boy does it work well. I hope that the burners last for years. Given that they and the grate are stainless steel they should and Weber backs this up with a 10 year (burner) and five year (grate) warranty. Truly a dream to cook on with enough room for everything for a group of 8: meats and veggies all at once.

We LOVE this grill!! Our old grill needed to be retired, and we researched what we really wanted in a grill. The reviews for this grill were outstanding (rated 2nd in the $1,500 - $4,000 range) but thankfully at the lower end of that price range. And of course we've never heard anyone who has a Weber say anything negative about it, so we really did look at this as a 10-15 year investment on a grill.
Overall grilling: NO uneven cooking! You can cook on every inch of the grill with the same results. (We watched a video where a guy cooked 35 pork chops..I wasn't sure they would all fit, let alone cook evenly) Unless you are feeding an army, this grill is big enough to cook everything. Searing burning: this was the only difference between teh S-670 and the S-570, and it was worth it to us to have it. My husband LOVES seared but rare steaks, and he can finally have them. He sears all of steaks to seal in the juices (mine just cooks a bit longer so it's no longer mooing) Smoker box: We just tried this out last night and are really really impressed! You can slow smoke like the big professional smoke boxes or increase the heat as needed for timing. We made baby back ribs and we aren't sure if we had an exception rack, or if it was the grill (or my DH argues the cook) but they were the best we've ever had. Not inexpensive...but if you are looking for a higher end grill, skip the $4,000 grill and go with the Weber S-670 Nice extras: propane gauge to indicate level, lights, & side burner. None of those are reasons to get this grill, but they are nice extras. And I do like the pretty sear/grill marks this gives..just like at a restuarant. Note: This grill is HEAVY and requires 2-3 to move it when delivered. We ordered through Amazon through Uncle Joe's and had phenomenal service. In addition to the best price, the speed of delivery was astonishing. We ordered Friday night, had confirmation of our order Saturday, and received the grill on Tuesday.

great grill for the price, rain can be an issue,

We love our Summit. Moved up from the Genesis silver. We comparison shopped including really fancy units (dacor, etc.). The Summit produces noticably more controllable temperatures, and better outcomes than our weber silver genesis (which we loved, and is great for $400). We use this 3+ times a week, all year around, in new england -- fish, chicken, steak, veggies, even pizza (pizza only in summer). Medium to high heat. The summit seems like a good compromise between ultimate quality$$ and silver genesis.
Only issue is the fact that water gets floods grease tray if it is not covered when it rains. (And you can't cover until cold, which means that grilling in drizzle that becomes rain is a nuisance because you have to go out to cover at night, or wait until morning and then have an inch of water in grease pan). Well designed for cleaning, but if it could shed water outside its drippings pan, it would get the 5th star.

Functionally Great but Watch out for the Rain!,

This review is from: Weber 2780001 Summit S-670 Grill, Propane, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
We absolutely love the functionality of this grill. Gone are the flame ups from lesser grills that we have owned. We have not tried all of the extras like the rotisserie, side burner, smoker box, etc.
However, this is the first grill we have owned that cannot take the rain. Unfortunately, in Michigan we can go from absolute sunshine to something resembling a monsoon without prediction in a matter of 30 minutes. Sometimes there is not enough time for the grill to cool down and be covered. The first such downpour occured today....what a mess. The entire interior cabinet was soaked, and the grease pan was almost full of water combined with the grease! We were lucky it did not overflow. Weber needs to think this through.

Water pours in when it rains,

Paid $2000 for the grill, bought the Weber cover, hooked it up to natural gas. The grill cooks fine but every time it rains, the cabinet fills with water. Don't buy it...it is a poor design. The pan for drippings gets full to the TOP with water after a good rain storm even though it is covered with a Weber cover. I called Weber customer service and their response was POOR - "yes, we know, it needs ventilation, i'll pass your comments along". Don't think you will be able to store anything in that cabinet underneath the grill. Buyer beware!

This is simply an awesome grill. I have never been a big Weber fan, but this one is well thought out and works like a champ. I own several Lynx grills and this grill truly a close competitor for about 1/2 the price. It can generate and hold the kind of heat needed to sear steak well. It went together easily and looks terrific. I would ignore the 1 star rating of the one person as it really is a 5 star product.

Nothing grills like a Weber, and this is the cadillac of Weber Grills. I have served groups of 20 off this grill. Steaks, Wings, you name it. Easy to set up, Easy to use, and all toys made this our choice as a House Warming Gift to ourselves. Even got a great price from Amazon. We love our grill, you will too. We Highly Recommend this Grill.
