5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for large groups, April 17, 2009
This review is from: Weber 2780301 Summit S-670 Propane Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
This is the newer model S670 #2780301. The previous model was 2780001 so check the number before ordering. I was planning on the smaller s470 but Northline express had a sale on the s670 for about the same price, so I jumped on it. It arrived by freight (free shipping) and the driver rolled it into my garage by himself with a special dolly. Plan on 2 or more people to help move it. My son and I moved it about 5 feet at a time working towards my backyard.

It came well packaged and completely assembled except for the 2 side wings. A few screws and you're done. They recommend a 20# propane tank but I'm looking for 30-40# because if you use all the burners the propane disappears fast, so have a spare ready. I thought the gimmicky knob and grill lights would be useless, but now I find them very helpful at dusk and night. They're useful gimmicks! The hide away rotisserie motor is another nice touch. It frees up shelf space when not in use and you don't have to attach and unattach it when needed. You just pull a tab and there it is ready to use.

I don't want to drag this out but I've used all of the grills functions and the results are excellent. It's expensive but worth it. I would assume the s470 is just as good for less. Look for overstock and other sales. I think I got a great deal. Good luck!
Oh! There's a newer cover for it also 7555 with side vents instead of the front and rear vents that leaked water into the grease tray.

Owned a Weber Gas grill for the last 15 years. This grill is a BIG step up. Love it. Could not be better. Seperate burner for box with wood chips for adding a smokey flavor while grilling. Searing station, rotisserie and rotisserie burner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome!, April 4, 2010

So we were going to build an outdoor kitchen, in the end the 15K gave us pause. We still wanted a new great grill. This grill is it. I like everything about it. I have grilled steaks, seafood, chicken, vegetables and they all turn out outstanding. The searing station is terrific. I really like the built in smoker. I put some chips in every time I grill. For real smoking I use my weber smokey mountain smoker. However, this adds some nice flavor.
The only thing I have not tried is the rotisserie. Another great feature is all the burners giving you tons of flexibility. We grill every night I am home so this really is how we cook.
The grill comes almost entirely put together. You will be grilling in no time. Other items to get: cover, weber pizza stones (makes some awesome pizza) crisp crust with a hint of smoky flavor.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Cadillac of Grills, July 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 2780301 Summit S-670 Propane Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this not-so-cheap grill over my wife's objection because I grew tired of cleaning up the charcoal and squeezing the food onto my previous charcoal kettle grill. And if I was to going to give up on charcoal, I wanted to go first class. So far, it's met all my expectations, and more. My wife even quit complaining about the cost. It's clean, cooks evenly, heats up in a flash, and is extremely versatile. We've pretty much quit using the in-house cook top. One complaint: My plan was to hook the grill up to our house propane tank, having purposely plumbed the propane line right onto our rear deck. The easy-to-follow instructions for setting up the grill, however, don't allow for this option. In fact, the gas line provided with the grill is specifically constructed to make it impossible to hook up to anything other than a portable propane canister. It took me multiple trips to the hardware store, wasted money on parts I never used, and the expensive advice of a plumber, to finally hook up to our house propane. Now that it's done, it works great. But Weber, with a little thought, could have taken a lot of the pain out of this procedure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great grill, February 28, 2011
This review is from: Weber 2780301 Summit S-670 Propane Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
Love this grill. Bought it as a surprise gift for my boyfriend and so far it's perfect. I love the handle lights and I don't think they're gimmicky. It's very useful on our deck when we grill at night because we grill year round.

I don't see any openings where any rainwater could get in so I think that whatever design flaw may have caused that problem has been resolved. I also ordered a cover because why wouldn't I cover it, right? It's an investment that I expect to have for a lot of years.

We plan to put new burners and flavorizer bars into his old Weber Genesis Silver and pass it on to his daughter. That's a pretty good indication of Weber's quality.

Putting it together was very easy, it's mostly already assembled. We got the inside delivery because it was going onto an upstairs deck. Delivery was great, no problems.

My boyfriend says he feels guilty when he uses it. OK, that wasn't my intent to make him feel guilty but as long as it makes him smile it's worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GRILL!!, September 22, 2010

This is a great grill. Everything works above expectations. It only took me about 30 minutes to finish the assembly after it arrived. I have been grilling for over 30 years and have never had a grill that would perform like this one. I have worn out many gas and charcoal grills over the years and none performed like this one.

The only issues I have with the grill we got on Amazon is they sent us the black one instead of the stainless one we ordered. We did not want to go through the hassle of returning and waiting on the right color. We are happy with the black one now. The other issue is the drip pan fills with rain water very quickly. If someone has a solution short of keeping it covered let me know.

The performance is excellent. The seer station is perfect for steak, chops or burgers. The burner for the rotisserie is better than any I have used in the past. Chicken comes out brown and moist. It is very expensive but I think it is worth the price if it holds out over the long haul. I would recommend this grill for the chef that cooks outside on a regular basis. Lower price would be great but I am very happy with the performance. If you get one, you will be a WEBER fan from the time it arrives.

Happy Grillin'

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent buy for the money, August 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 2780301 Summit S-670 Propane Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
I have been looking at many grills for a long time before making this purchase, and I feel this grill has the most features, at the best quality for the money. You can spend a lot more money, and not get all that you get with this grill. It has a large 6 burner cooking area, built in smoker, hide away rotisserie, and side burner. Its easy to cook several things at a time, and is perfect for indirect cooking and smoking. Flare ups are not a problem, and the sear station works wonders on steaks. If you like pizza, I recommend springing for the pizza stone; in combo with the smoker box its like having your own wood burning pizza oven.

It comes nearly pre-assembled, and I was able to put it together in about an hour by myself. I've owned it too little to coment on durability long term, but out of the box everything has worked and fit and finish can't be knocked. I haven't called the help desk yet. I have never owned a Weber grill before, but I can see why they've developed a loyal following.

Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Grill!, July 31, 2010
This review is from: Weber 2780301 Summit S-670 Propane Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
I have had my Weber Summit S670 (2011 model) natuaral gas grill for two months now. I have used it nearly every night since it arrived. It cooks very evenly, capable of producing A LOT of heat, and all of the features work well. With six main burners, a spit burner, sear burner, smoker box burner, and a side burner, Weber has covered all of the bases. For the more advanced grillers, with six main burners, setting-up multiple heat zones, and using indirect heat is a snap with this grill. I love slow cooking/smoking ribs on the S670. They come out great every time! The S670 perfoms very well, however, I think the over-all build quality should be better for the price. I would like to see stainlees steel side and rear lower panels, and the control knobs are made of plastic. Yes they can light up at night which is more of a "cool" thing, but they are light weight, and have a cheap feel to them. Other than that, this grill is flawless. Part of what you are buying is the Weber name. Weber is a good company who stands behind their products. I expect to get a good 15+ years of use out of this grill.

Happy Grilling!

5.0 out of 5 stars Issue solved, July 1, 2009
This review is from: Weber 2780301 Summit S-670 Propane Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
I am very interested in this grill and was concerned about a previous review on water intrusion into the grease catcher. I emailed tech support on Sunday evening and early Monday morning I had a very thorough response from their tech support group This issue is solved and if you buy a unit now or have one, contact support with your model and serial number and they will send you a piece to solve this issue.

I was impressed with their quick response and offer to solve the problem. My next grill will be the S-670!

I bought this grill for my hard to buy for husband for his birthday and he is thrilled with it! Did I also mention that he is pretty fussy about these types of things? This grill made his day....
