5.0 out of 5 stars The Best!
This is the Ferrari of Grills! everything you need, smoker, rotisserie, searing station, side stove burner and 6 grill burners. It's just the best, I have been using it for over a month now, and I can say it the best grill I have ever owned and will ever own.

Price: Its expensive but you get what you pay for, all stainless steel and cast iron, really well...

This is a great grill... the best I've ever owned... BUT... be forewarned... if this grill is ever left uncovered in a rainstorm it leaks like seive. Water gets into the greasepan, which quickly overflows, and then you have a greasy mess inside the storage area, and eventually all over your nice concrete or pavers. Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 2880001 Summit S-670 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
This is the Ferrari of Grills! everything you need, smoker, rotisserie, searing station, side stove burner and 6 grill burners. It's just the best, I have been using it for over a month now, and I can say it the best grill I have ever owned and will ever own.

Price: Its expensive but you get what you pay for, all stainless steel and cast iron, really well built and has been put together the right way.

Unpacking: It comes in a big box, and you need two or even three people to get it off the skid that is comes on.

Assembly: Very easy, if you know how to turn and screw and read directions, very very easy

Wife's note: If you give this to your husband for fathers day he'll love you for it! I bought it for my self, but my wife wishes she gave it to me for fathers day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grillin' Like a Pro, July 12, 2008

This review is from: Weber 2880001 Summit S-670 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
After many grilling disasters on our former, although high end/custom, grill my son and I decided either we were going to have to get rid of the grill or the "grillmaster"--so we did our homework and purchased this Weber Summit S-670 grill for my husband for Father's Day. We specifically wanted a grill with the dedicated sear station feature, a good warranty and reliable customer service. After reading many reviews, we decided to try Weber and we have not been disappointed! Because the S-670 was not carried by ANY local retailer, we ordered through Amazon.com and received a fair price and impressive delivery experience with Reliable Resources. Concerned with assembly, I checked with Weber before ordering and was assured by the customer service rep that assembly was minimal. My 18-year old son made quick work of it and our first attempt at grilling turned out restaurant-quality steaks, perfectly seared on the outside yet juicy and beautifully "medium" in the middle. The grill heats up to about 700 degrees in a matter of only 10 minutes. Beware that it is a REALLY hot grill and once it's pre-heated, you should open the lid with caution until you get used to it. The temperature was easy to manage once the meat was seared---no hot spots, just very even. We have subsequently grilled chicken, vegetables, even split heads of romaine lettuce (for grilled caesar salad) with excellent results. We have not yet tried the smoker box, side burner or rotisserie but anticipate expanding our grilling experience with those options. This grill is very large, but Weber makes a similarly equipped model (with the dedicated sear station) in a smaller size (S-470). Both come with lighted control knobs and exterior grill lights, which some reviewers have dismissed as gimicky, but we feel are useful. We grill year round and when it gets dark earlier in the winter, we're sure we'll appreciate the lighting features even more. As far as customer service, Weber offers service 364 days/year. Our grill was missing one door-closing magnet and all it took was one call to the 1-800 number to have one sent via FedEx. The customer service rep even provided her name and direct extension # in case we have any other problem. From the ordering experience, to prompt and courteous delivery, to easy assembly and now, to "grillin' like a pro," I could definitely recommend the Summit S-670 grill!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great grill, great service, August 11, 2008
This review is from: Weber 2880001 Summit S-670 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
This is just a tremendous grill. It arrived on time with only a slight problem, and then took less than an hour to set up. The problem was with the left door - the magnet that holds the door closed had broken. Weber immediately sent me an entire new door, no questions asked. I've used the grill several times, trying out all of the features. The searing function works as advertised. For low temp grilling, the heat is consistent and evenly distributed. The rotisserie and infrared were easy to use and allowed me to cook a 10 pound turkey in less than two hours. My only complaint is that if left uncovered with the grill closed, water leaks into the grill and down into the grease trap. I forgot to cover it one night and it rained. The grease trap overflowed all over the inside of the grill and out onto my deck. What a mess! So it's a great grill, but the cover is not an optional accessory.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Grill if it wasn't for water leaking into grease pan!, May 19, 2010
This review is from: Weber 2880001 Summit S-670 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
I just purchased the Weber Summit 670 grill for about $1,500 delivered. Fantastic grill, well packaged so no damage but as stated by others this baby floods with water if not covered during a rain storm. I called Weber today about the problem and they were very aware this Summit series leaks water into the grease tray and then into the smaller disposable pan. Customer service said they would send me a cover for the grill,.... really, that's a solution for a bad design? I've had a smaller Weber Gold series grill for 9 years and it's never leaked water into the grill. So, if I'm slow grilling a large roast and the weather changes and starts to rain I'm faced with a mess or shut the grill off and cover ASAP after cool down.

Short of the rain issue this Weber Summit is heavy duty, and cooks like nothing I've ever used in grilling. The design of the burners, knobs, shelves, grates, lights and overall quality is second to none. I've used the smoker tray once so far with charcoal and it works great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love my Weber, December 15, 2009

OK I spent a long time trying to convince myself to spend more money on a grill than I spent on the Summit S-670. I looked at FireMagic, Lynx, etc but just couldn't convince myself to shell out $6000 for a grill. I then decided after months (close to a year) to buy the Summit. I really like the grill. No cold spots. For example, all of my steaks cooked evenly instead of one being red and 3 being well done. Super hot. This grill heats up fast...really fast which I really like. I grilled 6 NY Strips in 25 degree weather and the grill with the searer turned on did an incredible job. The grill marks were awesome as well as the steaks tasting great. I will echo what some have said about the water...If it rains you had better get a grill cover...it will get wet inside. I called Weber before I bought it and for some reason they offered me a grill cover to keep the water out (free of charge). I called after I got the grill and sure enough the premium cover came within a couple of days. I would love to have a grill that doesn't leak during rainstorms but spending an extra $4000 seems like a waste.

The smoker, like others have said on other review sites, isn't the best in the world. I haven't gotten it to keep the smoke inside like it should. It does put out a lot of smoke but the majority goes right out. I do think it is a cool feature and think with practice I might learn how to manage it better. The grill lights are cool to me. Why some people think they are "gimmicky" I have no idea. They are really handy.

Weber has incredible tech support also. I ordered my grill from a company that sometimes sells on Amazon but it kept gettting delayed with the shipping. I would call the company and was told on a number of occassions that it would ship in a week and a half...after several weeks they stated that they were having a tough time getting them in. I then called Weber and talked with a guy there who literally called the production facility and found out that they were in fact building natural gas Summit's that week. He called me back with that info. He stated that the company I had ordered from would probably be sending mine out soon. Sure enough with a week it was shipped. Those people on the 800 Weber line are wonderful.

Do I recommend the grill? Yes. There are problems, however, I have a beautiful grill that cooks incredibly well and didn't spend premium dollars for it. Sure $1800 - $2100 is a lot of money but I have owned cheaper grills made by companies such as NexGrill - Costco, and will never buy that way again. As of right now Weber has sold me. Two hints: If you buy get a cover at the same time and be sure to check out [...] (online grilling classes)...really really good stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars weber grill S-670 rain water leaking, May 14, 2011
This review is from: Weber 2880001 Summit S-670 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
I also bought a Weber S-670 built-in model natural gas grill. This cooking features of this grill are fine. The water leaking issue is a major pain with greasy goo lining the entire understorage cabinet when rain fills the grease trap. The cover tarp provided is an eyesore. I found the source of the water to be related to the large venting gap at the top rear of the grill hood. One solution is to use a 3 ft. piece of 5/8" caulk backer rod inserted in the crack. It can be removed for grilling and reinserted easily when the grill cools.

So I have had my new Weber for a year now and all I can say is WOW! I had a natural gas Genisis for over 16 years, rebuilt it a couple of time and it finally gave up the ghost. While this was a major expenditure I can't tell you how many rotisserie smoked chickens we have enjoyed not to mention the searing station! Well worth the money. If you can swing a natual gas connection it is the way to go. No more empty propane tanks! The ONLY downside is that the rotisserie bar and forks are chrome plated and not stainless steel so they can rust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate grill, April 15, 2009

I wanted a grill that could really sear a steak or a good piece of tuna. I was looking at models with ceramic sear burners, but heard worries about their durability. This is a large all gas conventional burner grill that generates more heat than you can believe. It it supremely adjustable and can do anything you want. My friends want one now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plastic Control Knobs, May 19, 2011
This review is from: Weber 2880001 Summit S-670 Grill, Natural Gas, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio)
This grill is great, but have only had one month. We have only grilled 24 lb turkey, beer can chicken, and steaks so far. Grill holds temp and heats extremely fast. Seering feature is outstanding for steaks, really makes a difference for thick steaks. One problem, the left large control knob broke off in my hand last night. I couldn't believe that an expensive grill would have plastic handles. Have emailed company to see if I can get replacement knob. Other than that I love the grill.

This has happened to me twice now, and I am so fed up I am putting this thing on Craigslist... and it's only a year and a half old and still looks like new.

For those who will keep this grill under some sort of permanent structure (roof overhang, patio, 2nd story deck, etc.) I would say go ahead and buy it. The grill should be protected sufficiently should a sudden downpour occur while you are cooking.

For those (like me) who will keep the grill "in the clear", I would strongly recomment AGAINST purchasing this grill. If a downpour hits while you are in the middle of cooking, you will have a mess!

If Weber ever fixes this design flaw (they deny it is a design flaw... I don't know what else to call it), I would then change my recommendation to buy.

The people at Weber don't seem to understand that if you are cooking, you cannot "cover the grill", which has been their only response to my complaints so far. Any imbecile knows you cannot cover a grill when it is hot... or so I thought.

I am very disappointed in the Weber-Stevens Company for bringing a product with such a serious issue to market.

Also... I did not buy this on the internet. I bought it locally (in the Charlotte, NC area), and not at a big box store. So I paid top dollar for it... well north of $2000.00 for this "Titanic" of a grill.
