Amazon.com Product Description

With a pair of high-grade, stainless-steel burners that run the length of the cook box, Weber's Genesis Silver A gas grill provides even heat without flare-ups. Under its porcelain-enameled hood lie 528 square inches of total cooking space supported by a stainless-steel, rust-resistant frame. The grill's 26,000 BTUs are activated by a push-button crossover ignition system, while a drip system steers grease away from the burners into a large pan below. Other highlights include a porcelain-enameled cooking grates, three hooks for hanging barbecue tools, a built-in thermometer, and heavy-duty locking casters to prevent rolling (20-pound LP tank not included).

The grill is easy to put together, and measures 59-1/2 by 51-1/2 by 28 inches upon assembly. It comes with a Weber cookbook and a limited lifetime warranty.

Product Description

When we launched the Genesis gas grill line back in 1985, we launched more than a new line of grills- we launched a grilling revolution. The Genesis line changed the way gas grills work with a new and innovative cooking system that stopped flare-ups and created even heat without messy lava rocks. Our system was so good, it wasn't long before other brands tried to replicate it. Close, but no cigar. Weber's cooking system is still the best on the market, and here's why: Burneres made of high-grade stainless steel run the length of the cookbox, providing even heat accross the grill. --Flavorizer bars completely cover the burners, no holes or cutouts. They are precisely angled to generate heat and facilitate run off of juices that aren't vaporized. --A drip system for directing grease away from the burners. Drippings are channeled into a funnel shaped bottom tray under the burners and collect in a large drip pan. Both the funnel-shaped tray and the drip pan are easy to remove from the front of the grill. --At least two or more individually controlled burners for cooking direct or indirect. Burners have infinite control valves so you can fine tune the temperature. Genesis Silver gas grills include three model types---A, B, and C. A models have two burners, B models have three burners, and C models have three burners and a side burner. All models feature a fully enclosed cart with stainless steel doors and handles, granite-style thermoset work surfaces, Crossover ignition system, solid robot-welded carts, and a rust-resistant porcelain-enameled hood with built in thermometer. All natural gas models include a 12 ft. flexible hose. All models also feature a limited lifetime warranty.

Charcoal grilling arguably produces better flavors, but propane has inarguable convenience. Some of the benefits of propane include push-button ignition, no lighter fluid, no coaxing the charcoal to burn evenly and no messy charcoal to clean up. If you've made the decision to go propane, the Weber Silver A is a good selection. It's a well-made and of sturdy construction. It requires some assembly, but no tools that aren't provided with grill. The manufacturer claims the grill can be assembled in less than 40 minutes and that's approximately how long it took me to assemble it. It is necessary to lift the heavy body of the grill and set it down upon the stand. The directions show two people performing this task. I was assembling the grill by myself and was able to do this by myself, but I would imagine it is wiser and safer to do it with two people. The Silver A is significantly smaller than many of the other grills on the market. I have limited space in my backyard, so the more compact design was an added plus. If considering the Silver A, you should probably look at the Silver B as well. Although a little more expensive, the Silver B offers 36,000 BTU's to the Silver A's more modest 26,000 BTU's. Although I'm happy with the performance of the Silver A, the Silver B is probably worth the investment if the grill is going to get heavy usage. There is a Silver C model as well, but this is a larger model that does not share the more compact design of its smaller siblings. I recommend the Silver A to anyone looking for a compact, but quality propane grill, but would urge the prospective purchaser to look at the more powerful yet compact Silver B model as well.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 6711001 Genesis Silver A Propane Grill (Black)
I just bought a new Genesis after owning my last one for 11 years. Excellent product. There's plenty of product info on this page from Amazon and the manufacturer, so let me tell you a few things that I do to make my Weber work best for me.

-Most importantly...keep it covered. Amazon sells a cover...get it. Not coving it will cut its life in half at least.
-Cover the funnel shaped grease drip pan with tin foil and change it regularly; otherwise build-up in the trap can catch fire and THAT does not make a steak taste very good.
-Change the disposable grease traps regularly (otherwise they start to stink).
-Get yourself a quality wire brush and use it before each use...NOT after. The build-up on the cooking grates after each use actually protects them from the elements.
-Before each use, after you wire brush the grates, put some cooking oil on some paper towels and wipe the grates down.
-Pre-heat the grill on high for at least 5 - 10 minutes; it burns off anything left over from the cleaning and makes the cooking grates nice and hot.
-Initiate cooking steaks, chops, any cuts of meat (even burgers...no, not hot dogs) on just-over-medium heat for 2 minutes on each side and flip before cooking to your liking. This brief searing of each side locks in the flavor of your cut of meat.
-Cook with a closed cover; normal cuts of meat shouldn't take more than a total of 10 minutes (including the searing).
-Let your meat sit for up to 5 minutes before slicing (or biting into it!). This locks in the juices; if the juices are too hot when you slice (or bite), they'll run right out of your cut of meat.

There you go. Hope that helps. And don't forget to cover the grill after it cools. Bon appetit!

I purchased this grill for my husband four years ago and we are still very happy with it. It has held up very well. When we were having problems with it lighting the back burner, I called customer service and they were extremely helpful. They saved me buying a whole new burner set by explaining to me how to remove the tubes, check and clean them. We are now replacing the racks and flavorizer bars ($60.00) since they are just too hard to clean after all this time. I have found replacement parts at Home Depot and Lowes which is a plus to know I can easily get the parts. I don't see us haveing to buy a new grill anytime in the near future.
