Amazon.com Review

Legendary Weber quality, tons of thoughtful features, and built-to-last construction make this propane-fueled gas grill a solid choice for years of pure grilling pleasure. Three high-grade stainless steel burners run the length of the durable, thick-walled cast aluminum cookbox, inputting a powerful 36,000 BTU per hour and producing exceptionally even heat without hot or cold spots. Each burner is individually controlled to enable either direct or indirect cooking, while the infinite control valves allow exceptionally precise temperature control. The Genesis Gold C also adds a heavy-duty side burner that lets you prepare your entire meal in one spot, heating side dishes and sauces while your meat grills. 611 inches of total cooking area provide enough room to cook for even large parties and include a convenient warming rack, to keep already-cooked foods warm or toast hamburger buns, and a warm-up basket, to cook easily burned foods like fish or vegetables and to provide more warming space. Weber's Crossover ignition system makes starting the grill easier than ever, lighting all three burners in succession with just the push of a button.

Like all Weber gas grills, the Genesis Gold C features heavy-duty stainless steel Flavorizer bars to eliminate the flare-ups caused by lava rocks and ceramic briquettes; fats and juices hit the angled bars and sizzle away, adding delicious, smoky barbecue flavor instead of flames. A slide-out bottom tray funnels grease away from the burners and into a removable catch pan for quick and painless clean-up. The grill includes a roomy storage area with solid steel bottom shelf, while a swing-up work surface offers plenty of space to spread out sauces, marinades, utensils and other prep essentials. The work surface is made from granite-look Thermoset for maximum durability, heat resistance, and ease of cleaning, and features four sturdy hooks to keep favorite barbecue tools close to hand. The double-walled stainless steel hood adds a layer of insulation to trap heat and protect from discoloring.

Thoughtful add-ons and extra features elevate this grill above similarly priced models. A built-in thermometer monitors the temperature inside the grill for precise cooking. Rugged, weather-resistant wheels are crack-proof in the most extreme temperatures and allow easy transport, while locking casters prevent the grill from rolling during cooking. The porcelain-on-steel control panel includes a meat temperature chart on the enameled surface for easy reference, and all three burners have screens to keep spiders from spinning combustible webs inside. Best of all, ten fasteners are all that's needed to put this grill together, meaning you'll go from box to barbecue in less than 40 minutes. The Genesis Gold C measures 63 inches high by 64-1/2 inches wide by 30 inches deep. Made in the USA, it's backed by a limited lifetime warranty. --Mary Park

Product Description

When we launched the Genesis gas grill line back in 1985, we launched more than a new line of grills- we launched a grilling revolution. The Genesis line changed the way gas grills work with a new and innovative cooking system that stopped flare-ups and created even heat without messy lava rocks. Our system was so good, it wasn't long before other brands tried to replicate it. Close, but no cigar. Weber's cooking system is still the best on the market, and here's why: Burneres made of high-grade stainless steel run the length of the cookbox, providing even heat accross the grill. Flavorizer bars completely cover the burners, no holes or cutouts. They are precisely angled to generate heat and facilitate run off of juices that aren't vaporized. --A drip system for directing grease away from the burners. Drippings are channeled into a funnel shaped bottom tray under the burners and collect in a large drip pan. Both the funnel-shaped tray and the drip pan are easy to remove from the front of the grill. --At least two or more individually controlled burners for cooking direct or indirect. Burners have infinite control valves so you can fine tune the temperature. Genesis Gold gas grills include two model types--B and C. Gold B models have three burners, and Gold C models have three burners and a 12,000 BTU-per-hour input side burner. Both models feature a fully enclosed cart with stainless steel doors and handles, stainless steel cooking grates, stainless steel flavorizer bars, granite-style thermoset work surfaces, Crossover ignition system, solid robot-welded carts, built in thermometer, and a double-walled construction stainless steel hood that adds a layer of insulation to trap heat and protect the stainless steel hood from discoloring. All natural gas models include a 12 ft. flexible hose. All models also feature a limited lifetime warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this grill, August 21, 2005
By
This review is from: Weber 6750001 Genesis Gold C Propane Grill (Lawn & Patio)

This grill really is fantastic. I've had it for 2 months now, with absolutely no buyers remorse at all.

Pros:
1. Excellent heat control with a 3-zone heating system. Turn off the middle zone, and you go from direct heating to convection style grilling. I'm finding the capability to switch from direct to convection-style heating to be useful for cooking things like fish, chicken, and ribs without scorching the outside.

2. Fantastic temperature control from 250 degrees F, all the way up to 600 degrees. The temperature gauge on the front is really useful.

3. The fuel indicator is a nice feature.

4. It's very simple to remove any parts that tend to get messy and put into the dishwasher. Cleanup is a snap. The parts fit in the dishwasher without taking up all the space.

Cons (really just a few minor annoying things):

1. The lower cabinet is not water proof. Anything left in it will get wet in the rain.

2. My lower cabinet doors tend to swing open too easily. I added a magnetic door latch to deal with the problem.

3. The sideburner does not put out that many BTU's. It's more of a warmer than a burner. I ussually have to light the sideburner with a match, as the lighting switch doesn't seem to consistently work for the sideburner.

4. This grill is really heavy. Don't expect to throw it in the back of your pickup and take to the park. It's a 2-man job to move it around.

Overall fantastic grill, with a few minor annoyances. I give it 5 stars, mostly for the excellent temperature control, and the fact that I've gone from a grill meister that scorched the outside of the meat 50% of the time (with my previous grill), to perfect consistent results everytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Weber = Quality, July 3, 2005
This review is from: Weber 6750001 Genesis Gold C Propane Grill (Lawn & Patio)
My wife and I got our "Weber" Genesis Gold C almost a year ago and it's worked for us in the heat and in the cold without any problems at all. I originally selected this model for our Wedding Registry, not expecting to get it, and was thrilled when it arrived on our back doorstep...because the box was too big to get through the front door! *grin*

Some things we really love about it:

1. Construction
We were able to assemble it in under 30 minutes and get it running once I got the tank filled with propane not long after. The solid construction and stainless steel show no signs of rust or discoloration after a full year of weekly use.

2. Grillspace
The huge grillspace is more than accomodating when it comes time to get working with the heat. Three long burners allow for easy use for multiple heats and meat placement, as well as using the front two burners for meat while setting the third for bun grilling or potato cooking/heating or corn cooking or...well, you get the idea. The side burner is also useful if you're boiling sides or keeping your BBQ sauce warm or boiling brots in beer before you transfer them to the grill heat.

3. Workspace
There is a great deal of workspace and if you suddenly decide you need more so you don't contaminate your cooked meat with uncooked meat, there are two "fold-out" shelves which pull out in seconds and are more than sturdy for your 10lb leg of lamb to rest on.

4. Useful Display Features
The thermometer is very easy to read and "up front" on the cover so you know if you have the burners up high. The gravity-spring gas gauge is harder to see, but is very easy to read once you squat down to check on the fuel level in your tank.

5. Cleaning
Stainless steel design and parts make cleaning a snap. The usual grill-brush cleaning works fine but you can also remove the grill grates and "flavor bars" (dripping catchers) and scrub them in the sink and drop them right back in with no problems at all.

6. Ignition
In the year we've had the unit, it has always lit on the first press of the ignition lighter. The back two burners light from the first burner when it's lit, but nothing could be easier and it's great not to have to use long-stemmed matches or lighters anymore.

Bottom Line:

1. If you can afford it, buy it and you'll have a grill for life!

2. If you really like your friend, buy it for them and you'll have a friend for life who will invite you over for cookouts!

3. If you can't afford it, put it on your Wish List or Wedding Registry and maybe you'll have it delivered to your rear doorstep!

5.0 out of 5 stars A High Quality Grill, August 15, 2005
This review is from: Weber 6750001 Genesis Gold C Propane Grill (Lawn & Patio)
I've owned and used other grills, but the Genesis is my favorite for two reasons:

1) It makes cooking easier. The heat is absolutely consistent, with no hotspots. I feel more at home in front of the grill than using my kitchen oven.

2) It's built like a tank. Easy to clean, and industructible. My old grill was not.

Buy the rotisserie attachment. You won't be sorry.
