I've got a Smokey Joe. One day, I managed to trash the grate. It is a long story, but suffice to say, I do not recommend dropping a grate on the ground repeatedly as a cleaning method. Eventually the grate breaks. That was my fault, not Weber's.

So, I needed a new grate. I bought this one. As far as I could tell, it is a relacememt, through and through. It fit, it held up under the heat. It grilled. Not too complicated.

You've got the obvious choice: do you buy a new grill, or just the replacement? I can't guide you there. That depends on the age of your grill. However, if you've a sturdy grill, and in a misguided cleaning effort you did a bit of damage, go for the replacement.

I looked at 3 different home improvement warehouses, a couple of large brick and mortar retailers and one specialty grill company before I found this replacement part on AMAZON.com. The grill I have is just a year old but somewhere, we seemed to have misplaced the original charcoal grate. Granted, the whole grill is only [money], but why spend [money] on a new one when this replacement grate is only [money]? Check out Amazon first and you might just save yourself from running all over the city looking for the replacement part that you'll never find.

An order was placed online for a replacement charcoal grate 06/01/09,for a 14" Weber Smoky Joe grill without difficulty.I did do online searching for best price so the reason I ordered from Grady's should be evident. The product arrived today intact, accompamied with original "Weber" packaging,I am a loyal Weber grill fan for >30yrs.and have never been disappointed with the products, now I hope I have a site to order future products if needed.

This is an exact OEM replacement for the factory charcoal grate. Very sturdy. It also works as a replacement grate for several other round grills and smokers.

This is the replacement grill to hold the charcoal on a smokey joe grill. After not finding it locally, I looked at Amazon and found exactly what I was looking for. It is an original replacement part from Weber. Thanks Amazon for carrying everything and at a reasonable price!

It gets the job done but it arrived in flimsy cardboard packaging that did not adequately cover the grate, which would have allowed it to break had it not been made of metal.
