The “Weber 7421 Gourmet BBQ System Griddle” has been very useful for grilling fish and for vegetables. We do use Weber’s Grill Spray to prevent sticking when cooking potatoes. That spray has no effect on the taste of foods and does not burn or flare-up under high heat grilling temperatures.
This griddle does not need to be seasoned. Doing so results in a sticky residue that is difficult to remove; further, seasoning does nothing that will benefit or make your grilling easier. Having mistakenly followed one reviewer’s advice about seasoning the griddle, I am still scrubbing the “baked on” oil from its interior. Once the griddle has cooled, I found that cooked-on foods clean off with just a short soaking.
We preheat the griddle for 5 minutes; the same amount of time that we preheat our gas grill. The instructions included with the griddle direct the user to preheat the griddle for 15 minutes. If you desire a good crusty sear on your meats, this is probably the correct amount of preheat time. However, the griddle becomes hot enough in five minutes to grill salmon, trout, or various vegetables.
The interior diameter of the “Weber 7421 Gourmet BBQ System Griddle” is approximately 11 5/8”; it is about 1” deep. The griddle fits on a Weber Genesis Gas Grill and leaves enough room for grilling meal. If you need a griddle that does not cover your entire grill surface, you may like this product.
The one thing that puzzles me is in some of the reviews here on amazon people talk about season this cookware like its regular cast iron. The griddle has a porcelain enamel finish, that means it requires NO seasoning which is the norm for porcelain enamel finish cookware. Depending on the manufacture of enamel cast iron cookware it may for may not be dishwasher safe. Webber says their enamel cast iron cookware is not dishwasher safe to I wash it by hand like I do my other enamel cast iron cookware. Don't believe me just surf over to webber. com and read it for yourself. I guess some people just don't believe what webber tells them about use and care of their products.
I like this thing and use in indoors on the cooktop when its too cold outside for fire up the grill.
It heats to a very high temperature (we let it warm up with the grill...) and sears fish perfectly. Also great for vegetables. Only issue is it's heavy but it was surprisingly easy to clean. We let it cool then wiped off what we could before giving it a wash in the sink. Since it's cast iron, would not put in dishwasher or let sit in water as it would rust.

Love the pan. If oiled properly, very good food release. Gets better with each use. Can be used on the stove but I love using on the Weber. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Kirk walker
An absolute must have addition to the Weber kettle grill. Fits nice and secure. It's very well made too. Not cheap or thin. I've been very pleased.Published 3 months ago by DUG

Awesome device, a little hard to slot in the grill opening but you can just set it on the grills for easier use.Published 6 months ago by Michael Balles
A bit fussy to clean, but nice weight. Next time, I'd skip the sear grill and just get a Weber Gourmet System with the skillet.Published 7 months ago by Buford
Nice pan. Only problem, your food tends to stew instead of grill. Nice if you are making something with a sauce.Published 8 months ago by JB
