Replacement hinged cooking grates, are made of heavy, bright nickel-plated steel. Grates have curved handgrips that can hang from kettle handles. Fits 22-1/2-inch kettles.

Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this to replace the aging hinged grate on my One-Touch Gold. However, shortly after ordering, I discovered that Weber sells a stainless-steel replacement, which should never rust, so I returned this one. If you have the non-hinged grate, a hinged grate is an excellent upgrade, but if you don't mind spending a bit more, check out the Weber web site.

I had no idea that a cooking grate like this even existed until I was looking for Weber accessories on Amazon one day. I really wish my 22.5" Weber grill came with one of these in the first place, but I guess most casual grillers don't need access to the charcoal during grilling.
If you use lump charcoal, like I do, then this cooking grate is very valuable, because it allows you to shuffle the coals around without completely removing the grate. Also, if you use your grill to slow-cook meat, you can flip up the side of the grate and add more coals periodically without disrupting the food.

I bought a Weber product so I was expecting to be impressed. Sadly these grates are made from cheap, nickel plated steel. Which means they will not last a full season without rusting and wearing away. I bought 3 of these as replacements for my Weber gold, performer, and one for a drum smoker I made. All three are rusting badly after a couple of months of use.
If you want quality and a long lasting grill grate, you need stainless steel. I called Weber directly and they do have a stainless steel grate for about 20% more than the cost of the cheap, nicklel plated steel grates. I am much happier with the stainless replacements.

Perfect
Fits into the Weber grill and with the sides being hinged it makes it so easy to add charcoal without taking the whole top off of the grill. Works great.

What's not to like?
The grate makes it really easy to add wood or coal while you're smoking or BBQing. Well worth the $$ in my opinion.
