I bought the Weber replacement igniter after trying a generic one from a local store. I never could get the generic to work. Save yourself the headache and buy the correct one first, follow the installation directions exactly. This one made my grill work like new again.

As others have noted, you have to take apart a few pieces of the grill to get to this part; which makes it a good time to replace other parts of your grill that need attention. That being said, this is such an item of convenience (particularly if you grill year round) that it is well worth the time and effort to install. My Weber (a Silver B) is a good 10 years old now and still runs like a champ. Outside of new flavorizer bars every so often and a new set of grates a couple of years ago, I think this might be my first real "repair" to the grill.

Weber makes their grills to last, and part of that is offering replacement parts at reasonable prices. These igniters usually last around 5 years of heavy use before part of it fails (usually the stainless steel igniter box), though you can sometimes revive a dead igniter by cleaning the gunk out of it.

Anyway, this igniter takes around five minutes to install. Make sure you poke the small metal tab through the small bottom hole rather than trying to squeeze it into the main igniter hole.

I used this as a replacement on a 10+ year old weber that I just got. It works perfect. I have no idea how long they last but I assume it will be years, I'm a little dissapointed weber doesn't make a electronic model as an upgrade for the older grills, I mean they make stainless grates, stainless flavorizer bars...why not an updated electronic ignition....This is extremely easy to install and seems to light the grill instantly. I was a little surprised that it has always started on the first press...maybe it's the box design to hold the gas but I remember on other grills (non weber brand) they never started on the first push. Just when you buy this make sure your buying the correct one as weber makes 2 models, the black button and red button model

Arrived quickly. Easy to install and works like it should. Make sure you know which part number to order since there are different part numbers based on the year the Webers were manufactured.

The original ignitor and box lasted eight years, the original ignitor button is still working on my 2000 Genesis B. Expect the same from the replacement, after all it's a Weber.

Our ignitor came in a timely manner and worked great. Our grill is getting older so we find ourselves needing to make a few updates, but to date we've been happy with our Weber grill. Easiest install out of all the parts I have replaced on this grill thus far. One push creates FIRE!! I was done rubbing to sticks together...

Purchased as a replacement part on my Genesis 1000 grill. Installation was very easy. One improvement over the original ignitor is heavier gauge wire.

Product was very easy to install once you understand the directions. My Weber grill must have been built sometime in 2002. I had to use the instructions for pre-2002 for some steps and post-2002 for others. It wasn't hard but the instructions could have been a little clearer. The part works great and the whole install took less than 10 minutes. It's nice not having to find a lighter or match and light through the hole anymore.
