5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good - and quiet, too.
I have only used the rotisserie unit twice - spinning chickens both times and the results were fabulous. 2.0 out of 5 stars What's with the "handle"???
Of course my old Weber rotisserie did not line up with my new Weber Genesis grill, so I had to buy a whole new one. My old one had a nice large wood handle. The new one has an oval metal handle that sits at right angle to the rod and it gets as hot as if were inside the grill. You have to use pot holders to remove it when the food is done. (To those who have never done a rotisserie chicken at home and don't know why it could possibly be worth the bother (when grocery stores, Costco, etc. all have them) my only advice is that you really just need to try one done right. Then, do a leg of lamb, a beef roast, and you'll understand.) This is a powerful, quiet motor and a nice stainless spit. I loaded my first chicken relatively unevenly, and the motor put up no fuss at turning it. One comment, make sure when installing the motor braket you put the nuts inside the firebox - otherwise the lid of the grill will not shut. Great grill, great accessory.

Bought this rotisserie for my hubby for Father's Day - but it was a gift for the entire family! Chickens turn out moist and delicious, pork roasts are fantastic. Our teenagers have actually been known to change their plans based on what nights we are cooking with the rotisserie! Is there any better praise than that?

I got grill mania...bought all the accessories--thru Amazon, amazing company and free shipping, I'm a fan--but, then I had to decide on the rotissierie...skeptical mostly bec it didn't store under the Weber grill and I'd have to find another spot for it. And, there are always those $5 Wal-Mart rotissierie chickens that are cool. So why spend the money? I have no clue why I bought it...just thgt it would look incredible if it worked. Like watching those dripping chix rotate in store windows when I was a kid.

Guess what? It worked. Smell me.
Best chicken ever. Somehowhow most all the juices stay in though you may want to put a washable disposable aluminum pan under the chix to catch the few juices that escape. Do 2 chix at a time...feeds 4 w/ leftovers. Very easy to install when needed, very yum, very worth it.

Also the handle needs to be in the up position in order to grab hold of it because it sits about a half an inch away from the grill body when it's facing down so there's no space to grab it. Because the handle does not extend out, you need two hands on the spit to support the weight of the food. An absolutely horrendous design, perhaps even dangerous. Lastly; why does Weber include cheap metal screws, nuts and washers for mounting the motor bracket when everything else is stainless steel? They corrode in no time with the heat and grease. I replaced mine with stainless.
Aside from the poor handle design, for cooking the set-up works great. We use ours all the time; roasts, pork tenderloin, chicken, turkey.

Kinda pricey, but after trying it out on a number of items of differing shapes and weights, I do have to say it works much better than my cheapie rotisserie on my old grill.
Handles whole turkeys without a strain and much easier to clean up.
I would definitely recommend it.
After all, if you're going to spend the money for a Weber, what's another $[...] bucks...

4.0 out of 5 stars Only issue is gap between spit and flavorizer bars, April 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 7519 Gas Grill Rotisserie (Lawn & Patio)
Recently purchased this Rotisserie to go with my new Weber Genesis E-320 natural gas grill. It was very easy to attach and to set up for use. I have made two attempts to cook with the Rotisserie. After emailing Weber, I learned that the motor could handle 20lbs so I decided to try a 14lb turkey that I had left over from Thanksgiving.

First, I had a lot of trouble trussing such a large bird properly. I had never trussed anything before so perhaps this was not the place to start. No matter how well trussed, however, the bird continually made contact with the thin drip pan I had in place. I had to remove it from the Rotisserie and put it in the oven to finish cooking.

For my next attempt, I got a smaller chicken like the ones most grocery stores sell for cheap. This one was much easier to truss and it worked great. I think I cooked it a bit too long and didn't use any sort of marinade (just some olive oil and salt and pepper), but it was still good and enjoyed by everyone in the family. (Just one tip, remove the cooking grates BEFORE pre-heating the grill. Those things are not fun to move when they are at 600 degrees.)

In short, I wish there was another inch between the spit and the flavorizer bars, but other than that physical limitation (more of a grill limitation than an issue with the Rotisserie, I guess, but as both are Weber products, it does kind of fit this review), the motor worked flawlessly with both attempts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for chicken, January 10, 2010
This review is from: Weber 7519 Gas Grill Rotisserie (Lawn & Patio)
I got this rotisserie for chicken, which it excels at, but the design makes it less than ideal for other meats. For chicken the spit and and forks work well, as the center of the bird is hollow and having metal forks pierce the meat has little consequence. Larger birds won't fit due to the size of the grill and placement of the rotisserie. As it is, you will need to remove the grates (or stack them on one side if only cooking one bird) to allow for rotation of chicken, but the flavorizer bars can remain. Other types of meat may fit, but having a spit and forks pierce a roast will heat the meat nearest these metal pieces (due to conduction). I'd imagine this isn't as much of a deal for pork, but I wouldn't want the center of a prime rib to be medium well due to the spit. I'd suggest an E-Z Que for that.

Back to the chicken. As others have said be sure to truss or tie down wings and legs,as they will get well done due to their proximity to the flame. This will also create more clearance between the chicken and the flavorizer bars. In general cooking times are comparable to other means, but unlike "beer can chicken" with Weber 16128 Poultry Roaster, the chicken will cook from the outside in (due to steam on the inside with beer can chicken). This along with better retention of juices (not many drip down) makes the rotisserie my favorite of the two. The cord is woefully short, but the motor seems very solid, and it's not that noisy. The spit seems to allow for a bit of balancing of weight, and it's relatively easy to clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, April 28, 2010

I am so thrilled with this product. If you are thinking about ordering this product don't hesitate. Very strong electric motor works with foods of all sizes. I have only had this about two weeks and have already used it three times. I have tried it with a large chicken, a large pork loin and a 6 lb prime rib. The prime rib is the best you will ever taste due to the self basting of a rotisserie. You will be surprised at how little dripping you will have because the juices remain in the meat. Any one that owns a Weber grill doesn't know what they are missing if they don't own this rotiserie.
Hint: Be sure to remove the grates before you heat the grill. Place a large piece of extra strentgh alumininum foil((with edges bent slightly) instead of using throw away pans. This is less expensive and gives you the added room to make large food items.

I've used this for three chickens so far and each has been fantastic. I didn't do anything more than rub them with olive oil, salt, & pepper. Be sure to truss them up very well - I didn't on one of the chickens and the wings flopped around enough to pull off one of the flavorizer bars.

I have two complaints: one is that there isn't that much clearance between the chicken and the flavorizer bars - I remove the grates and put a cheap aluminum cookie sheet underneath to catch the drippings. I wouldn't put more than about a six pound chicken on it, due to the space.

The other complaint is that the power cord is extremely short. You will almost have to use an extension cord, but it would have been nice to have it at least reach the ground.

These are minor things, and I'm looking forward to making a nice roast or leg of lamb next time!
