5.0 out of 5 stars For the Genesis Silver A or Spirit 500, June 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 7521 Cooking Grate (Lawn & Patio)
I own a Genesis Silver A and if you do too then you're at the right place for replacement grates. The B & C model replacement grates are at this link.

These Genesis Silver A replacement grates should have come with the grill; unfortunately, the grill came with the porcelain grates which I should have replaced the same day I got the grill 4 years ago. The stainless steel grates work much better because the heat is more evenly distributed, and they're just a more solid product.

There's not much more that can be said about cooking grates, so let me tell you a few things that I do to make my Weber work best for me.

-Most importantly...keep it covered. Amazon sells a cover...get it. Not coving it will cut its life in half at least.
-Cover the funnel shaped grease drip pan with tin foil and change it regularly; otherwise build-up in the trap can catch fire and THAT does not make a steak taste very good.
-Change the disposable grease traps regularly (otherwise they start to stink).
-Get yourself a quality wire brush and use it before each use...NOT after. The build-up on the cooking grates after each use actually protects them from the elements.
-Before each use, after you wire brush the grates, put some cooking oil on some paper towels and wipe the grates down.
-Pre-heat the grill on high for at least 5 - 10 minutes; it burns off anything left over from the cleaning and makes the cooking grates nice and hot.
-Initiate cooking steaks, chops, any cuts of meat (even burgers...no, not hot dogs) on just-over-medium heat for 2 minutes on each side and flip before cooking to your liking. This brief searing of each side locks in the flavor of your cut of meat.
-Cook with a closed cover; normal cuts of meat shouldn't take more than a total of 10 minutes (including the searing).
-Let your meat sit for up to 5 minutes before slicing (or biting into it!). This locks in the juices; if the juices are too hot when you slice (or bite), they'll run right out of your cut of meat.

There you go. Hope that helps. And don't forget to cover the grill after it cools. Bon appetit!

5.0 out of 5 stars great replacement, April 20, 2009

My Weber is about 5yrs old and the old porcelain grills were pretty worn and warped from the heat. I've had the new grates and they work fantastic. They don't stick and are easier to clean since the design is not interlaced like the porcelain grates. Its a bit early to say they will last as long or longer than the porcelain grates but they are off to a promising start.
I would highly recommend getting these, Its much cheaper then getting a whole new Weber Grill and it feels like you have a new grill by replacing the grates and flavoring bars.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Rust, No Fuss, May 14, 2009

After switching to stainless steel, I can't see why anyone would cook on anything else. It stays cleaner than the others and can be thrown in the dishwasher when overly dirty or just crank the heat up on the grill to burn off the residue. The only con would be that for alot of foods, it works best to use a grill spray or brush on olive oil to keep the food from sticking. Another great Weber product worth every penny. I have had to replace my old enamel coated ones every year due to corrosion and just plain wearing out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fit and performance, June 29, 2009

These grates are way better than the original ones that came with my grill. I didn't give these the full stars because I was assuming that the grate was made of solid tubing but it is not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, April 22, 2010

After three years, the performance of our Weber Spirit was going downhill. The original grates and flavorizer bars were terribly corroded causing flareups and sticking. Finally we bit the bullet and purchased new versions of both...in stainless steel. I wish we had done this last summer!

These grates are far superior to the original porcelain coated grates. Food sticks much less and seems to burn off faster. They are easier to clean with a brush than the old interlocking design.

I considered the cast iron grates, but decided to go with these due to living in a humid climate...glad I did.

They are solid and I'm sure will last for many years.

I had trouble determining the correct model number for our grill, however, and finally had to email Weber. These fit perfectly on our Spirit 200 series.

A great investment!

If you have a Weber gas grill...look no further. Porcelain coating = too brittle and short lived. Cast Iron = too much maintenance and short life if not taken care of. Stainless Steel = Just right. I have about 25 hours of grill time on these and they are great. Many reviews complain about these not being solid bars. What do expect? Solid stainless steel grates would be in the $100 range. No warping, great sear marks, perfect fit. gotta love Weber!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Grates, January 16, 2012

I was pleased to be able to "refresh" my older Weber BBQ with new parts over the summer. Because it was an older model, I was not able to locate new grates in local retail stores, so was pleased to find solid options via Amazon. I upgraded to the stainless steel grates hoping for easier cleaning and longer wear. It's too soon to know about the wear issue, but overall, I am pleased. Delivery was quick and the price, although not exactly low, did seem to be competitive.

The Weber Stainelss Steel grates for my Spirit E210 are very nice. They make very favorable grill marks and maintenance is a minimum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beware of descriptions, March 9, 2011

I'll second the other reviewers that you should make sure you know the correct Weber part number that you need as the Amazon descriptions for size ect are incorrect....if you order the correct part number on these grates or the flavorizer bars, you'll get what you need
