NEW DESIGN - No Vents!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weber 7553 Premium Cover for Weber Genesis Gas Grills (Lawn & Patio)
I just received this from Amazon (not a third-party reseller) last week, and am happy to report that Weber has listened to their customers and stopped with the vents.
This cover is form-fit for my Weber Genesis S-320, and other Genesis 300 series grills. It looks great, and the velcro straps (which are now placed where the vents are pictured) keeps it from blowing off my grill. The material is quite dense, and the quality of the stitching is very good. Having seen some of the cheaper covers that aren't much more than tarp stitched in the shape of a grill, I was happy to spend a few bucks more. It isn't cheap, but you get something high quality that makes your grill look nice even when it isn't being used. I used to own the Weber 7552 Cover, which I had on my old Genesis Silver B, and after three years, the thing still looked nice when I sold it, without so much as a loose stitch (though it did have the wonky vent over the handle). This cover feels like it's even higher quality. Totally worth it, as far as I'm concerned. Update: I've added three pictures of the grill cover I received. Take a look!

Manufacturer's error in photo presentation,

I don't understand the ventilation design on the Weber Genesis cover, Model 7553. The 2 side vents do little, if anything, to protect rain from entering the grill and water collects on the side tables, draining into the cabinet below the grill. I believe that defeats the purpose of having a grill cover! Granted, vents are needed to prevent condensation issues. A more strategic placement of the grill cover vents would be far better.
When I purchased my new Weber Genesis S320 grill (from Home Depot) I also purchased the grill cover, Model #7553. When I open the box I immediately noticed the material's high quality and it was a perfect fit on the grill. However, a few days later it rained quite hard. The following day when I pulled off the cover both side tables had large water puddles on them. I went on Amazon which had the cover listed through a third party. I was pleased to see on the box picture that it didn't have side vents (The dark slot-looking items are Velcro straps). So I purchased the cover and received it in a timely fashion from the vendor. However, as I pulled the cover out of the box (which had the same photo - no side vents shown) my excitement turned to dismay. It had side vents and no rear vent. This cover is useless with the side vents so I returned it. The fault is misleading product presentation from the manufacturer (Weber) and not the fault of the Amazon vendor. I hope to find (and purchase) a generic cover which is properly engineered.

Don't bother - get the Veranda (large size).,

Get the "Classic® Veranda Cart BBQ Cover" instead. The "large" size fits the Genesis fine and the vents on the Veranda cover are protected by flaps. And, the price on the Veranda is better. (I don't work for them, but I did buy their cover.)

A "must have" for the Genesis Grill,

I just received my cover from evVive and it has no mesh vents at all! Thank you, Weber! I guess someone at Weber was listening. If you have a Genesis or are thinking of getting one, you need this cover. Without it (or with a cover that lets water in), rainwater flows into the grill and ends up filling your drip pan. If your drip pan is already full of grease, you've got yourself a real mess. Now, I just have to return a cover to HD with mesh sides. Finally, I have to recommend evVive (the Amazon seller that filled this order). I ordered the cover yesterday afternoon at 1:00 and received it TODAY at 11:00 AM and I chose standard shipping. Amazing service!

This isn't it either,

I ordered this item thinking it didn't have those round mesh vents on the top sides that the other 7553 cover has. It doesn't. It has LARGER, rectangular shaped vents in the same location. The picture on Amazon DOES NOT show these vents. Nor does the box the cover comes in. Is this false advertising?
These covers MUST have been designed by someone with no real-world experience. Why would anyone buy a grill cover which lets water and snow and ice (I live in western New York) in on operating parts of the grill?

Beyond poor vent design, right over the grill controls....,
This review is from: Weber 7553 Premium Cover for Weber Genesis Gas Grills (Lawn & Patio)
The only explanation for Weber to place these vents on the top sides of the grill is that they want you to have to buy replacement parts much sooner than you normally would. I bought this 7553 cover at the HD, it fits great on my Genesis 310, but if you live in an area that gets any significant amount of rain, a significant amount of water will get on the two shelves, the controls knobs and ignitor, and even find its way down into the lower storage area. The box (or the one pictured here) does not show them, but they are on the ones that HD sells in my area. When I read another poster who said that Lowes sells the same cover (same part number too) without the vents, I returned my vented one and purchased one there. Now the grill is nice and dry with a well-fit cover. Bottom line, buy it in person and open the box to make sure that the vents are not there, or keep the vented one if you like to buy replacement parts.

Thanks to reviewers for identifying the vent problem on earlier version. And thanks to Amazon for letting me know there was a newer version. Cover came with no vents and appears to be made from very sturdy material. The velcro straps are a very nice touch - I live on a very windy canyon and the straps will keep the cover on the grill instead of in the canyon.

I was a little reluctant to order the cover as the picture shows the cover with the vents, which I did not want. However, after reading the reviews, customers were receiving the more updated version with the velcro tabs, so I took a chance. I am glad I did, the cover fits perfectly and does have the velcro adjustable straps. Item arrived quickly. Very pleased with this purchase.

Very pleased. Received cover in time stated. Cover has no side openings for rain to come in. This seemed to be a problem in some reviews. OK to buy.

I was afraid to order this cover because of the poor reviews (vents in the cover). I decided to trust the reviewer who said it was a new design and did not have the vents. I ordered it in July 2009 and sure enough it does not have vents. It fits perfectly and looks very good!
