Rust-prone, but nice design,
By
This review is from: Weber 9015 Double Prong Skewers (Lawn & Patio)
Though Weber claims these are dishwasher safe, these rusted after a first run through the dishwasher. I like the way they work--personally, I didn't have a problem with the "blunt" tips. Everyone's right--they're not pointy, which to me (a klutz) is good because it saves my fingers. Still, I skewer veggies just fine all the time with them. In the future I'll handwash, and maybe see about calling Weber to complain about the rust.

I am so tired of slippery food sliding off skewers when you try to turn them over! These double-pronged skewers really work at keeping food on the skewers, and even better, from sliding around when you try to turn them over. I must have looked pretty funny in the past trying turn shrimp over to cook on the other side while they twirled around and around the skewer, always with the cooked side down! But no more! I always hand-wash skewers anyway, so have had no rust problems.

It works but not the greatest,

I bought the skewers because the price was reasonable and that it was from Weber. Unfortunately, the quality isn't what Weber used to be - dependable and long lasting. Although it claims that it's dishwasher safe, the skewers came out rusted and discolored. I suggest hand washing them. Look at other choices before buying this one.

Three Complaints,
By Elaine Wells (Burleson, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Weber 9015 Double Prong Skewers (Lawn & Patio)
These skewers do a good job of preventing food from rotating while on the grill; however, I have three complaints.
1) Flimsy. I was expecting them to be sturdier. Each prong wiggled a bit too much for my taste. It made the food a little bit harder to put on the skewer. I guess the trade-off is that Weber wanted the skewer to be lightweight. I think Weber should have made them a little heavier to make them a bit sturdier. 2) Rust. Make sure you handwash them. Not a huge amount of rust happens after putting them in the dishwasher---- but the rust is annoying. 3) Dull ends. There are no points at the end of the skewer. Pointy ends would make it easier to put the food on. Food doesn't spin, and they're lightweight. I give them 3 stars.

Rusting and Dull,
By "papa_don" (Monroe, LA United States) - See all my reviews

The 2 prong skewer is great but these started to rust before the first use. The ends are blunt and tear shrimp and other thin meats. Somewhat disappointing for a Weber product to be so cheaply produced and so well presented for sale!

These skewers dont have pointed ends. It makes getting the meat on very difficult.

A good skewer,

I have used a set of these skewers for a few years. I am buying a couple more sets. I haven't had any problem with rust. Meats and vegetables stay put with double pronged skewers. An improvement would be to taper the ends. I would rate at five stars if the ends were more pointed.

Best skewers ever!,

This review is from: Weber 9015 Double Prong Skewers (Lawn & Patio)
These are the only skewers that permit flipping the food without having some pieces slip around so that the cooked side persists in turning toward the fire. Much easier than using two skewers on the same string of food, and that is the only alternative. Especially valuable with soft meats and vegetables.

We have several different types of skewers. These are a pain to load because you have to push the delicious cargo on with accurate separation between the tips or the whole thing starts to warp as you add more cargo. Also, meat is difficult to push on which makes maintaining separation even more difficult.
The only ones we use out of our pile of skewers are the single flat/wide skewers with nice pointed tips, or wooden ones when cleanup is to be avoided. You can make any type of skewer work, but having used so many different types I can say with confidence there are much better alternatives.

Skewers great for shish kabobs,
By The Cook "J. H." (Las Vegas, NV USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Weber 9015 Double Prong Skewers (Lawn & Patio)
Pro: The Webber double skewers we purchased are great for shish kabobs. The double prongs keep the meat and vegetables from rotating while you turn the skewers over to cook the other side. They are long enough to hold a full meal on 2-3 skewers.
Con: These are not as heavy as some we have purchased in the past. They are harder to grab when hot as the loop ends are flimsy. They are blunt instead of pointed on the open ends. This makes it harder to feed things like potatoes and meat onto the skewers. |
