My EP-330 LP Genesis arrived in the box and strapped to a wooden pallet. When I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised to see that all the main components were boxed individually and everything else is well protected from damage with plenty of cardboard baffles and such. Weber has gone to the extreme to assure that this product survives shipping!
All of this being said, when I unboxed everything I discovered my porcelean drip pan and my right side stainless steel shelf were virtually destroyed and yet nicely boxed and packaged! These components were most definately damaged in the factory and went right past their quality control people. I called Weber CS and they were appologetic and sent me replacement parts via 2 day shipping. A week later, after my second cook, I discovered a three inch crack had developed on the side wall of the cast aluminum grill body itself! Again, I called Weber and they are sending a replacement but I will have to disassemble 40% of the grill to replace it!
So, if you are still reading this you're thinking that the Weber Genesis is all junk and hype, right?
Well, NO, not exactly. The fact is that Weber gas grills have the lowest repair rate in their price range. One number I read was like 1.8% repair rate compared to 20% and higher for their nearest competitors. The Genesis line really is a great product. Add to the fact that they offer great customer service and provide a strong warranty. I just have rotten luck! LOL

The grill itself is truely elegant in it's own right. The styling, materials, and build quality speak for themselves. You will experience a fantastic fit and finish and a genuine feeling that you have a product that will last.

Just got this grill 2 days ago and I'm very excited. After studying up on A TON of grills for the last year, I had my sights on this one. for $850, this is an amazing grill. This grill is solid and I believe it will last for 20+ years!

Putting it together took me about 2.5 - 3 hours, wouldn't have taken so long but my 2 year old was "helping." I think it would normally take about 2 hours to put together. The instructions were mainly pictures but still quite simple to follow, just took a bit of time. They packaged this very well, nothing was damaged, bent, or scratched!

After setup, I turned it on to see what it could do. In 15 minutes (timed) it reached 650 degrees on the dial. It didn't get much hotter that that, even with the sear station going but I think it only (as if it needs to get hotter) got that hot because it was very windy and only 40 degrees outside. Later in the day I cooked some chicken and veggies, for a 3 burner grill this still has quite a bit of grilling space. After cooking, I turned on the burners full blast again to clean off the food a bit and it got past 725 degrees on the dial. In fact that's way hotter than any grill I've used before. I'd recommend wearing an oven mitt or something when cleaning the grates cause it's just that hot. Also, I left my favorite cutting board on the side work area, right next to the lid, and it melted! I was pretty scared that I had ruined the grill after 1 cookout. The cutting board lost a half an inch along the side closest to the lid. With a paint scraper, I easily scraped off the melted plastic, though, and it didn't even scuff or scratch it. Watch out for that is all!

This grill is very easy to use, strong, sturdy.

You can tell this is a quality grill based upon on the craftsmanship of the metal work. As I was putting this together it was obvious the folks at Weber planned for this to be a beautiful product on all sides, even the ones you can't see. This is also by far the heaviest grill that I have ever owned. I think that speaks volumes, because so often today you find these light sheet metal made grills that slowly over time begin to fall apart. The construction is solid, but more importantly the cooking is fantastic. This grill heats very evenly across it, I was quite impressed the first couple of times I used it because I cooked hotdogs specifically searching for the "cool" spots. I would position a hot in the back, middle and front at the same time and evaluate how they cooked and they were perfectly even. I tried this experiment with three different meals just to verify! This grill takes no effort to get up to 600 degrees, even without the sear burner. Despite only three burners it has serious throughput and can cook some serious meats. The sear burner is an excellent feature and well worth the added cost for the 330 model. The red of this particular model is awesome. It has that authentic red weber feel to it, which may be my nostalgic side talking, but I really think it's a spectacular aspect of this model. My one complaint about this grill has to do with the wheels. They have these fins on one side of them which come awfully close to the ground. Any change in elevation when moving results in these things dragging or getting stuck. In my particular case I have a tenth of an inch ledge between my garage and the driveway and invariably I have to lift it on one side to get it over this barrier. If these fins were gone it would make moving this grill a whole lot easier to do.
