One of the best, if not thee best, grill for the price.,

This review is from: Weber 2003 Model 3280001 Genesis Gold B Propane Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio)
Started researching for gas grills online and at the local home depot and lowes and narrowed my choice down to a weber. Nothing comes close in price to weber's use of stainless stell burners, grills, flavorizer bars and hood. I chose the gold B model because I would rarely use the side burner and if I did needed it, I would use the stove in the kitchen. The free delivery by Eagle Transport was excellent. Took about 14 days from initial order to receiving grill. Eagle delivery person phoned ahead on cellphone to alert of actual time of arrival. Packaging was very good and instructions are well laid out. You definitely need two people to set this grill up. I muscled the grill together myself (too ignorant to wait for help) in about half an hour but I advise against this because of possible injury. Otherwise setup was 8 bolts along with putting the side and bottom trays together. The grill wheels around very easily and the stainless cover feels heavy duty and looks beautiful. To me, this grill looks more expensive than it is. This grill feels like a tank; nothing rattles. The stainless steel grills look like they would last forever...Grill ignited on the first click and the other burners came on without a hiccup. Temperature came up to 500 degrees in a few minutes. I cooked beer can chicken at 350 using the indirect method by turning the top and bottom burners to low. Temperature stayed constant and I didn't have to fiddle with the controls after that. The correct grill cover for this model is the 9859 not the 9957 that amazon recommends. Check the weber website; it says the 9859 is for the 2002 models which this new gold B is...The cover [I bought separately]fits perfectly is very heavy duty. Highly recommended. Another tip that I want to share is to line the disposable aluminum drip tray with foil so you don't have to buy additional trays. Just put new foil in after heavy build-up. Other than recommending the wrong (and more expensive) cover, I still give amazon high marks for ordering process and availability of product. I hope this review helps with your grill search.

It's a Weber, so it's got to be good!,

I got tired of buying a low-end grill and having to replace it or half the parts every couple of years. This time I decided to do it right and my research ended with the Genesis Gold B. I chose the Gold B because it offered all the features I wanted and none that I didn't want. I've had grills with a side burner and I never used it. There is an identical model to this one that does offer the side burner, if that is something you require. This grill is excellent! Heavy construction, easy to put together and just a great product all around. They advertise that it only takes ten minutes to put together and they are about right. It took me about 15-20 minutes and that includes interruptions from the kids! The grill fired up immediately and seemed to reach the surface temp of the sun in a matter of seconds! Everything cooks quickly and evenly. Weber and Amazon even get the shipping part right. The box was very well packed and arrived without so much as a scratch. I even got it several days before I expected to! Just be careful not to get the grill cover that is suggested here at Amazon. The one offered for this grill is not the correct one as stated in one of the other reviews. The 9859 is the correct cover. This is probably the best grill you can get for the price before you get into the custom, built-in models. Some grill experts may disagree, but for an every-day, average, don't-live-at-the-country-club kind of guy, this grill is the best!

OK, you bought a couple of those cheaper grills in the past, and were DISAPPOINTED. They last a year or two, and then, things don't work. The grill starts rusting, and the food never really tasted that great. Now you believe there must be a better way to grill. And there is. Even if you are comparing this grill to other Weber grills, nothing written so far, can tell you what a great value the Genesis Gold B is. This grill heats up to 550 degrees within 3 minutes. The burners light up quickly. It is easy to maintain. The rotisserie attachment is a wonderful addition. I also purchased Weber's Big Book of Grilling, which has some tasteful recipies. When Weber builds a better grill...it is actually better! Definitely worth the money! Small items I don't like: no smoker box for the Genesis grills, and the lighted handle (for night grilling) doesn't fit the Genesis.

Oh Man! This is what I've been missing,

Like everyone else who reviewed it, I moved up from the cheap grills to the Genesis Gold B, and I highly recommend it. I was concerned about only having 3 burners when I saw others with 4 and a higher BTU rating, but I can't imagine how those things would have any positive affect. The thing heats up to 700 degrees in a matter of a minute or two, and steaks prefer to be seared at about 550 or so (and cook about 400). Also the front to back layout of the burners is preferable to side to side because it allows you to not put direct heat on the meat in the middle of the grill and creates a hot air convection around it to thoroughly cook the meat. I am very glad I purchased the gold model because of the longer warranty provided by the stainless steel cooking grates and falvorizer bars which are easier to clean and take care of anyway because you don't have to worry about gouging them. The additional work area is nice as well (the pieces just set on there so you can carry all of your spices and stuff out on them). Besides the all stainless steel look is appealing. Another thing that sold me was the availability of parts locally, I can go to any local hardware store and pick up almost any part for it. The best thing about the grill is I haven't been able to screw up the cooking, everything always gets done thoroughly, and the more I use it the better it tastes because of the flavorizer bars.

Great Father's Day present,

I bought this grill for my husband last year and he absolutely loves it. The first time we used it, he scorched a few hot dogs because the grill we had before did not heat up or cook nearly as fast. We chose the version without the side burner because our cooking doesn't usually warrant one. We've had grills with the side burner and never used them. The tabletop areas on the side are incredibly handy as you can have the plate to take the items off the grill on one side and the seasonings on the other. The stainless has not had any problems with fingerprinting because you normally don't touch the lid anyway. The only downfall is that the neighbors know we have it and they want to come over and grill out all the time. We looked at all ranges of prices/quality/etc. and to be honest, $... is a deal compared to $...+ just for the top half of a Viking with half the cooking area. Plus we keep it outside. Would recommend the cover for the Genesis vs. the generic Weber cover because the Genesis one has a vent in the front which keeps a big gust of wind during a storm from completely blowing it off the grill.

Ordered for same price as Home Depot or anywhere else. Managed to get in free shipping, no tax, delivered in a flawless shipping carton to my doorstep. ... The grill - awesome. Assembly was a breeze with very intuitive and more importantly - correct, directions. Not like some products where the pictures and directions are generic to 20 different versions of their product. You also get a very impressive separate cookbook, not just a couple pages at the end of the manual. If your stepping up from a [less expensive] grill, your going to be wondering how or why you didn't have one sooner. No more hot and cold spots. Cooked a few porterhouse steaks the first time, they came out better than anything I could possibly have done with our cheapo grill. Awesome. Fired up on the first click. I ponied up the extra [money] for the stainless - glad I did. You get a nicer looking grill, bigger grilling area, and another workspace on the right. I'm not sure how people justify the [very expensive] grills by Viking and the like. For personal use and entertaining friends and neighbors - this fits the bill perfectly.

Weber has outdoor cooking at it's best!,

This review is from: Weber 2003 Model 3280001 Genesis Gold B Propane Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio)
After my husband narrowed down the grills to Weber, we decided on this model. Even if you are not a pro at back yard cooking this will make you feel like you are. We cook most of our meals on the grill, and one that is easy to use, clean and maintain, puts the fun back in it. This one fit our needs and then some. The service from Amazon was exceptionally fast, professional and extremely easy. The grill arrived to our garage door. Was assembled in 20-30 minutes. All information and the special tool to put it together were inside the box. No problems with anything. I have cooked steak, burgers, roast, chicken, hot dogs and many other outdoor favorites. Everything came out great. This was the best thing we have purchased in a long time. And I think we will have it for along time. I do wish they had put more hooks for hanging things, like the cleanning tool, or other utensils. Or maybe some kind of basket on the end to put your potholders or seasoning in. We are very pleased with this model, and with the entire experience and would recommend it highly.

Amazon Best Price on Weber Gold B Stainless Steel,
By A Customer
This review is from: Weber 2003 Model 3280001 Genesis Gold B Propane Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio)
This grill is fabulous. First, let me say the pricing for this particular grill on Amazon is the best. Trust me, I've looked around. The grill is easy to use, easy to clean, looks great. The flavorizer bars make cooking so much easier - no flare ups - so no burned food. The drip pan is easy to replace, the stainless steel grates are so easy to clean. The only thing I wish this grill had are doors like the very high priced Summit model.

Lasts Forever--almost,

This review is from: Weber 2003 Model 3280001 Genesis Gold B Propane Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio)
I replaced my almost 14 year old Genesis grill with the Gold-B. I recently moved, and thought the old grill wouldn't survive moving. It still works, but its frame and enameled flavorizer bars are rusty. So I left it with the old house. The new one seems to heat up much faster. That could be the age difference. I also appreciate the swing-up and removeable shelves on the Gold-B. Even if your not a big meat eater, you'll find many uses for the grill. I use it to roast red peppers, sweet onions, and many other veggies. Often served over pasta with a fresh grind of parmasean. I use the grill most often for roasting a whole chicken. You've seen the infomercial for an electric roaster where they exclaim: "Set it, and forget it!" Same thing on the Weber! Preheat. Oil the bird. Place it in the middle of the grill, and set the burners to "MOM" (med/off/med. 90 mins. later it's done to perfection! And you can bake regular or sweet potatoes in the middle with the chicken. Later, grill some peppers, onions and zuchinni over the ouside burners to complete the meal. I have one complaint. I have to lift my grill over a slight step up from the driveaway to the garage floor. There is not a comfortable hand hold at either end of the grill. I'm also going to treat those small wheels as if the're fragile. They sure look delicate. One tip to new gas grillers. Buy a second tank! I bought one locally for [$$] + fill. Tanks only go empty in the middle of cooking. ;-)

Nothing but praise for this grill. Definitely worth ... more to get the stainless steel. Easy set up/clean up. Fires up like you wouldn't believe. Food was the juiciest BBQing I have ever had. A novice BBQer feels like a gourmet chef after using this puppy.
