5.0 out of 5 stars Webkinz Pet
Webkinz Pets are an excellent choice for a child who wants to use the internet and a parent who values internet safety. The pets are adorable and my children are addicted! Fun for parents too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the nicest feeling stuffed animal out there
If you are only buying this for the "secret access code" then go ahead and purchase the tiger. Ganz makes so many nice stuffed animals with a lot more appeal than this one.

We bought this Webkinz for my daughter's friend when we attended her birthday party. My daughter already had one, and getting one for her buddy was top on her list of priorities!

Each Webkinz contains a code for a community website aimed at children. The nicest thing about this site is that it is the most secure community site that I've ever seen for a child. When they go to the site, they enter the code from the doll, choose a username and password. That's it. No giving email addresses or real names or addresses. The owners of the site really have no idea what the names or addresses of its members are!

Additionally, children cannot--anywhere on the site--input any personal information. They can play with their friends or even strangers, but to talk to other people they must use phrases that are already put into the system. For example, if they want to tell their friend hi while they are playing a game they would click the drop-down menu and choose the appropriate phrase and click on it to send that phrase to their friend, at which point their friend is given a list of appropriate responses!

As if just the plain fact of security wasn't enough, add into it that your kids are learning responsibility, as they have to care for their pet in the online world by taking him/her out for exercise, buying food for their pet, playing and interacting with the pet, and keeping it clothed. They learn about nutrition (health points go way up when the pet eats their veggies, or down when they eat a hamburger or too much candy), and see the results of their food choices (lose too many health points and your pet will need to go see the doctor for a check-up)and other health choices (exercise makes the points go up, not enough sleep makes the points go down).

But wait, there's more! The games are appropriate, engaging, and fun. My six year old gets frustrated on some other sites when a game gets too hard or complex. Here the games are just challenging enough to make your kids try a bit harder, and very addicting with real and engaging characters. The tournaments give you a chance to try your skills against other players, and there are games for every taste. I've even caught her father online playing at 2 in the morning!

I would definitely recommend buying a Webkinz for every child in your family that has a love for fuzzy animals, games, and community!

5.0 out of 5 stars GRRREAT!, December 3, 2007
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

These toys are educational and the fun never ends. You get not only a plush toy but a virtual one as well that your child (or you) can feed, dress and interact with. I have had to wash a few of these in the washing machine and they hold up pretty well. I don't throw it in the dryer, but let it air dry instead and that perks them right up. My children range from 1-11 and they all enjoy these pets so it's a good gift idea for a child whom you aren't sure of their interests.

The tiger was purchased as a Christmas gift and adds to a more "wild" stuffed animal collection. My granddaughters love to gather their Webkinz and play house and have shows. You can't go wrong with the quality of their products.

4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this tiger but..., April 19, 2007

I can't help but feel that it could had been made softer and better. Oh well, he's very happy with it and he absolutely loves the site. In fact, the only problem with the site is the fact that you will have a difficult time getting your child to pull away from tghe computer to join the real world, which the site acknowledges and gives helpful hints on how to limit time spent on it. I honestly don't see what the other parent's problem with the site was. To me, it is cute and challenging and I'm thrilled at the safety measures that they've taken to make sure that kids are not preyed upon. There are many Webkins to choose from; amongst them your child will find his favourite. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and plan on adding more Webkins to my children's jungle of play animals.
