I first had a brand new Webley Tempest back in 1980, paid $90 for it. Never intended for match shooting, it is a great trainer for simulating firearm shooting at a fraction of the cost of going to the range. I have owned several used classic Webleys since then and they have all been rugged and reliable (and are increasing in value since they were discontinued). I was disappointed when Webley and Scott went bankrupt in 2005, and current British laws have made it difficult to produce and sell air guns. While this new reproduction of the Tempest is made in Turkey, the original Tempest also had outsourced parts (barrels from Spain and major internal parts from Germany). Other then that, this replica is very close to the original Tempest in power and accuracy--having shot them side by side. If you adjust the price for inflation (use an on line inflation calculator), the adjusted price is about what I paid back in the day.

Like my original Tempest, the reproduction took about 300 shots to wear in the action after which it was easier to engage the mainspring. I anticipate it should last for many years to come.

The pistol has a surprising amount of power, given it's small size. Very accurate, which is not always the case with some spring piston air pistols. Feels sturdy and has weight to it with very little plastic like so many of today's air pistols. Cocking may be slightly difficult for some people. All in all, a great value for the money. Well made and a unique design. Two thumbs up!

I bought my first Beeman Tempest back in the early 80's. It was the most awesome air-pistol I had ever experienced. My first Tempest was stolen about 10 years ago, and replaced immediately. I decided I also wanted to try the .22 model, but Beeman/Webley stopped making the Tempest pistol several years ago, much to my dismay. The -original- Beeman/Webley Tempest was an outstanding product. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they appeared to be back in production. *** Although, this is Not the Phoenix rising from the ashes. I received this particular Webley Tempest today, and this is simply an outsourced (Turkey), GROSSLY unrefined copy, at a very high price, considering. I am not impressed.

I simply cannot tell any possible difference between this air gun and the ones made originally by the British. In fact this gun is as good if not better than its British counterpart. Simple in operation, but complex in design. In other words, do NOT try and fix the gun yourself. Even if you have a good hand at regular firearms maintenance and such, this air gun will be beyond you in your abilities for sure. No sight capability, but for me that's a good thing. I won't have the urge to purchase an expensive optic for the gun. It's therefore a terrific close range gopher destroyer and target pistol and it does so quite well. Simply press the safety type of lever which unhinges the barrel and then swing the barrel around. This cocks the gun and prestages the spring pistol for the next shot. Insert the pellet of your choice (I'd suggest on of those Crossman pellet tubes with pellet inserter as a means to properly seat the pellet) then close the barrel back into its latch. Now you are ready to fire. A simple pull of the adjustable trigger and off you go. No CO2 to mess with and no pumping, just one lever pull (the barrel), a pellet, and fire. Terrific air gun as there are no others quite like it. Definately the gun to buy.

Great little plinker. Love having a .22 cal with me by my side. Not a firearm, so can't get into trouble.

Yes, it does take some wrist strength to cock the Tempest, but once that's out of the way, it's a fine shooter that's plenty accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. The quality is high, and it's built like a tank, using very little plastic in its construction. Some after market parts, like breech seals, are available if the need arises. It can take a bit of back and forth adjustment to get the rear sight on target since there are no micrometer adjustments, but two screws which when loosened allow the adjustment of elevation and windage independently. I haven't found the Tempest to be either hold sensitive or picky about the pellets used. Shooting a Tempest can get addictive.
