5.0 out of 5 stars The most comprehensive & helpful book you'll find
This book covers a lot of ground, from the very basic to the very advanced. Very rarely, the author will "gloss over" the details, but mostly, he explains everything, with a healthy dose (not overdose) of opinion. I belong to an online web design club and often quote this book to answer questions -- INDISPENSABLE.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enough, but too late
This book is something I wish I had bought when it was published in early 1998. Now, in the year 2000, I'm not so sure. It talks about level 4 browsers as state of the art. It's got a lot of info, but not up to date at all. In a world that changes radically every few months, this book is like ancient history. I'll not return it because there may be some tidbits...

This book is something I wish I had bought when it was published in early 1998. Now, in the year 2000, I'm not so sure. It talks about level 4 browsers as state of the art. It's got a lot of info, but not up to date at all. In a world that changes radically every few months, this book is like ancient history. I'll not return it because there may be some tidbits in there that I can use some day and I like to have a fairly complete library if I can. It's WAY overdue for an update--which I'll probably buy if and when they publish it. Of course, it's totally my fault for not checking the publishing date which is in large type on the listing for the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid addition to a Webmaster's library, November 4, 1999
By A Customer

I agree with a previous reviewer who said this book makes a good addition to a three or four piece library. While it does not cover any one subject exhaustively, it does contain a wealth of tips and tricks on a variety of subjects that are hard to find anywhere else. I turn to this book when I'm looking for that esoteric piece of information that I can't seem to find in my other books. More often than not, I come up with something I can use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very hands on!, June 23, 1999

The author has provided a lot of great examples of code I can use on my own site. It's great for client side stuff, but don't look here for complicated database driven sites. I like it as a reference, its here on my desk and I hand it out to the production staff from time to time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference for a webmaster with a bit of experience, September 6, 1998

While Christoper has done a fine job on taking a database of support questions and creating a single point of reference for us readers, he, and his technical proof-reader might have actually looked up the definition of ISDN, before telling us that it stood for "Internet Services Digital Network".. as much as he may like to think, ISDN was around long before the WWW became popular and is known by it's proper name "Integrated Services Digital Network". Other than a few other obvious slips, this is still a good read, even if it just begins to touch on most topics. It makes great "library" material (for those of us who have a 3 piece library). ;)

I think the author realizes that no "one book" can prepare you for webmastering ... but this one is AWFULLY close !! I'm not going to fault Mr. Ditto for the somewhat misleading title (although all "Answers" Series books have been excellent), but I give him a mighty THUMBS-UP for a WONDERFUL first step !! At no time does the author expect that 25 pages of JavaScript how-to tips will prepare the reader for all JS disasters; but perhaps anyone who would think this shouldn't consider being a webmaster. I can honestly say that while glossing through this book, I found AT LEAST a dozen solutions I could have used about six months ago ... and a DOZEN is NO exaggeration !!
