1.0 out of 5 stars Wants too much info March 29, 2012

I had this on my Kindle and it ran okay, but for the latest update it has change what pemissions you give it to include all you personal info, contacts, and just about everything else. Plus it wants the ability to make phone calls and send SMS messages (not that you can do that with a Kindle, but imagine what else it can do with all that access. I've uninstalled it and won't be using it again.

When I installed Webroot on my Galaxy 10.1, I was concerned that it might slow it down. After a week of running the app, I haven't noticed any difference in performance speed.

I've been getting annoying Leadbolt push ads on my Kindle Fire (via notifications) constantly for a few months. They are really, really annoying. Webroot found them on my first scan and kindly asked if I'd like to remove the offending application. I'm in love. So far, so good!

The only alternative I could find to this was hacking my Fire to install Google Play so that I could get Addons Detector. I was attempting to do that and thought there had to be an easier way and searched Amazon using several keywords until I found Webroot. I couldn't find this fix posted ANYWHERE on the web and the Webroot description doesn't state it gets rid of malicious ads either, but it did.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never worked ! Don't recommend it. October 23, 2012

This application installed like a professional application should.
However, it would never download or update the definition files.
I went to site for support and found that this is a very common problem.
The problem is that the application needs a lot of space to update the definitions.
I'm not talking about the disk space or SD card space, it needs memory.
Even after killing all running processes, I could not free up enough memory for this thing.
I've got an Android phone from HTC that only 18 months old, and while that is old by technical advance standards, it should have been enough.
I have other purchased software from Webroot that works fine on my laptop and desktop, and that is what drove my choice.
But if you can't update the definition files, there is no protection to speak of.
So, I uninstalled this application and went to another anti-virus product, which by the way, has no problem updating their definitions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable, unobtrusive security December 6, 2011

I have been using Webroot on my phone for sometime and have been pleased with its performance. I especially like the way it alerts about potentially dangerous web sites.

My only complaint is the age of the release available on Amazon Appstore. My phone is running from the Android Market while my Fire is running from the Appstore. It should be noted that both are using definition set 176, however.
