I use Spysweeper on two desktops and one laptop, this software is great for removing items you pick up from surfing the net. This software finds spyware and other items that norton didn't even detect. Overall a great product.

Software continually tells me that it has stopped access to harmful web sites - that's good. I asked the company to tell me which programs on my machine are causing this to happen - no answer from WebRoot. Poor customer support.

I suspect they don't have any idea which program on my machine is causing the window to show up, but it makes their product appear to be doing something useful.


Also on Windows 7, 64 bit, it hangs up and stops all access to the Internet.

I have used SpySweeper for years and have always been satisfied. Note that the anti-virus versions can conflict with other anti-virus software.

I have used WebRoot's SpySweeper for years. Mostly, to catch and remove spyware. This continued up to version 6. Then, running it, I was informed that there's a new version 7. Having previously trusted SpySweeper, I updated both my computers at the same time.

Bad mistake!!!

What got installed was a new program that just grabbed control of my computer and started running stuff. Previous versions allowed me to precisely control what it should do. This new one has no options, no way to stop it, no way to uninstall it. It got both computers (XP Pro SP3) into a state where the only thing I could do was a total disk reload from a months-old Acronis backup.

Lost more than a day of work restoring the machines, and lost months of data. This was a disaster.

This is a product I highly reccommend. The scans are much faster than earlier versions and setup is easy.

This is my third year in using this product and I wouldn't be without it. Shipping was fast and with the 3-users included, it was a great deal. My husband, my daughter and I could each put it on our laptops.

Unless you plan to run this program only to clear your computer of viruses, having it download at each boot is a bad idea. It takes almost 15 minutes to boot this program, too long a wait time for turning your computer on, from completely off.

And, if you use it while you are surfing, it will slow your computer down to a crawl. I have had it for years, and never use it while using my P.C., rather only separately to do a virus search and kill. It seems to work fine for that, but takes a long time, about 30 minutes. I suppose that's OK, because it is doing a thorough job. It is also good at getting updates and supplements automatically.

Boot up sometimes also gets "bound up" and the IRQ problems with this program show up, meaning that you end up re-booting in order to get started. If you do ANYTHING during the boot process...which can take 10-15 minutes...you are sunk...you will have to re-boot.

I have tried to discuss this with the people at Webroot, but they never returned my e-mail. They are supposed to have fixed this, but so far have not. I would rather try another anti-spy program. I don't mind when a company has "problems" with their programs...but ignoring me IS a problem.

I think Webroot has good products, but they are cutting back on their service and not doing adequate beta testing...choosing to ignore problems instead of dealing with them.

I bought this with hopes to fix my computer that always has a virus. I was not happy with the item, it made my computer freeze and made the situation worse. I eventually throught the entire thing out.

I've never had a problem with spy sweeper. Ive had other virus protection programs installed in my pc along with spysweeper n Ive never had a problem. It works great n gets the job done! I would go as far as to say sometimes spy sweeper can work even better than the other stuff out there including Norton n McAfee although I'm well aware theyre supposed to do completely different jobs. My pc is still running to this day though and ive never had a virus mess up my system. whatever Norton or McAfee hasnt picked up over the years this product has at a much higher rate of success as well.

The Spy Sweeper software was received very timely and cost about 1/3 the cost of renewing directly with the Webroot company. Very timely, and low cost option.
