My 9yr old son was having difficult finding his vocabulary words in the "traditional" print size dictionary. Originally, I thought it was his sight, but it wasn't. After purchasing Webster's New Explorer Large Print Dictionary, our entire family uses it now. It is very "user friendly." It's a keeper and you will love it!

this book is great because my old tired eyes can't see the way they use to and this book has LARGE print, so I don't need to squint, or use a magify glass or glasses. I should have done this a long time ago.

I am a retired teacher who was shopping for another retired teacher who has visual limitations. My first appraisal of the book was that it lacked challenging words. However, I questioned my first impression by looking up LITHE, MITIGATE, VERISIMILITUDE, OBSTREPEROUS, RECALCITRANT, AMBIVALENCE, and FLACCID. The dictionary did have meanings for each word.

If one is searching for all the features of a complete dictionary, do not select this particular book. This Explorer Large Print Dictionary is very easy on the eyes and will win many fans due to the ease of reading.

However, the better one can identify the tastes or needs of a gift recipient, the easier it will be to please the recipient. If spelling, vocabulary, and visual ease are the main criteria, this book delightfully meets those three criteria. Most of the negative reviews were based on the lack of traditional dictionary elements. Know your purpose or recipient and you will make a wise choice.

A friend was about to celebrate a birthday and I pondered over a "little something" to send her. I remembered a conversation we had recently had where in she said she didn't look forward to writing letters any longer because she couldn't easily read her dictionary. Always the perfectionist, she didn't want to send a letter that had misspelled words. The Webster's large print dictionary was the perfect birthday gift. My friend is so happy to have this dictionary! She doesn't even have to have her reading glasses on to see the large print. She is back to writing letters to friends and confided she has her dignity back! She felt embarrassed and hated having to ask others haw to spell something...especially her grandchildren. A complete dictionary and such a small price. A real value!

I am pleased with this book I just wish it had more words in it. I love the large print and the size of the book itself. It arrived in record time as everything I've ever ordered from Amazon has.

Since I have become legally blind books that are in "large print" have become an integral part of my life in how I live and communicate with others. Not to mention there are always a few words that I forget how to spell every now and then!!! This is a great dictionary for anyone even those who have good vision!! Thanks Webster!!

After looking at summaries of "children's" dictionaries on the web, I realized that buying one of them for my 10-year old grandnephew, a very bright little boy, wasn't going to get him the tool he needs. Those dictionaries seem to be for little kids, and he's beyond that description.

What I needed was a book he could use for reference, but since his home environment isn't one where seeking information is the first option, I wanted it to be an easy thing, a casual thing for him to be able to look up a word. He's being raised in a loving home, but there are no reference books and he doesn't have access to a library or the internet.

When I came across the large-print dictionary and saw that it is meant to provide easy reference, I had a feeling that having the book might be one solution to this child's need for information. As it happens, it's exactly what he needed, and he happily looks up words he comes across for which he knows no definition.

This version of a Merriam-Webster dictionary satisfies many needs, and I was happy to discover that it put another resource in the hands of one very smart little boy as he learns more about the world in which he lives.

I bought this for my mother (81 Wed. 28th!) and she is really enjoying it. The lettering is large so she does not have to strain to see it. It has help so much in her Bible studies as well as some words that are in the news that she did not understand. She keeps it handy by her reading chair! I'm very pleased with the purchase of it and she has no complaints. Thank you.

I'm quickly losing my sight and am tired of reading everything under a massive magnifying glass . Because of the large print format , it doesn't supply as many references as one in normal print , but you'll hardly notice the difference . The book is put together well making quick & easy references possible .
