A book for every student of life. This "little" text and I have been together since 1972. I have a copy at work and at home. It is faster than a dictionary -- it is faster than a computerized speller. This guide really works.

This book is a must have for any one who writes on a frequent basis. The spell checkers in word processors are great, but more often than not, I start out with pen in hand. The copy of this book that I bought in 1972 is falling apart. I'm delighted to find that it is still in print.

I first used the Websters Instant Word Guide in 1977 when I was working as a word processor. It is a quick & handy tool to use when you just need to know how to spell a word - or want to verify its spelling. I have used this book throughout my career whether it be for documentation or again - just needing to check on the spelling of a word. I went to use my "original" book the other day and it was literally falling apart - so needed to be replaced. Luckily - they are still publishing it. So I am now on my 2nd one - 32 years later.

Been using this little book for literally 20 years - through way too many jobs. Even with Word spell check and online dictionaries, it's just quicker to pick up a little book to check if Word has divided a word in a funky place or your boss has used a "creative" spelling for a word that Word doesn't recognize. Buy it!

I found this book in an old desk at work. I am now buying one for my children. It is perfect for those who cannot spell, like me. I have struggled with expressing myself in a written form all my life because of my spelling problems, but now with this book an arms length away I can write anything! Very Very helpful for the spelling challenged.

i just LOVE this little book. besides helping me through the wilderness of the english language,it is very tiny(about 5 1/2 in. by 4 in.) and fits in my small hands as well. it lists words aardvark to zymurgy. in the back is a list of abbreviations and what they mean. an example is,'IWW" which means-industrial workers of the world. after abbreviations,there is a punctuation section,then weights and measures then, "notes". this book is a treasure to own.

I received this as a gift in junior high, and I am still using it twenty years later.

I have had this little word guide since buying it at the bookstore in college back in the 70s. It has been such a handy little book! I have used it over and over through the years and now my children use it too. It sits on a shelf just above the computer in my office and is very worn from use. I have been looking to buy another copy for several years and couldn't find it until now. I am buying two new copies today!
