This is the dictionary my child's teacher suggested. It is a very good dictionary for middle school age children. The print, though not as large as a children's primary dictionary, is not nearly as small as the print of college dictionaries. The volume is large enough to encompass a large volume of words, also a plus for school work. It contains definitions, synonyms and antonyms. This is most helpful for homework. The book is hardbound which makes it easier to use for children as they do not need to keep one hand one the page to keep the book open while writing. We have yet to find a shortfall, when using this dictionary. :)

A good dictionary will enable you to understand a word without having to look up alot of other ones in the process. This is a good dictionary for all ages.

This dictionary is relevant, up to date (does not include too many obsolete definitions) and like another person said, when you need to look up word a good dictionary will give you a clear and precise definition which doesn't give you other words to look up in the process.

My daughter uses the dictionary constantly. She is only 9 but finds it very helpful, especially during her homewok and it is not as difficult to follow or understand as the adult version.

This Dictionary is by far one of the best for anyone at an intermediate level. It lacks derivations, but the definitions are clear and direct and do not leave the person in a word chain trying to define words within definitions, etc. It's very complete and it a great quick reference to use to find the meaning and usage of almost every common word in our language. I like it because it is not to complex, but it still unlocks understanding.

I bought my 10 year-old daughter this dictionary because the one she had didn't have all the words she had to look up and define. She also likes the letters on the edge of the page so it makes it easier for her to locate the correct letter.

After endless searching, I found a dictionary that shows the syllables in
words. This is a must for would be poets.

This dictionary is just the ticket for an adult language learner who's ready to move from a beginning dictionary but needs to stay at this level for awhile before moving on to an adult dictionary. Good sized print with many colored pictures to keep a disabled learner's attention.

This dictionary is perfect for my 5th grader. The words are big enough, there are pictures without going overboard, and the definitions are understandable for her level. This is the 2nd dictionary we've tried, and it's awesome!

I teach a reading class and we needed dictionaries. This was a great dictionary for us. It is easy to find the words with the color coded letters. It is a great dictionary.
