Was expecting more for a Wechter,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wechter Model 5713-3PU Elite Parlor Guitar (Electronics)
I believe I got the last of the Wechter 5713-3PUs that Amazon had in stock and felt lucky at the time. The one I got had some water marks under the finish and buzzed a lot in many places. I wonder if this one had been a "second" as Wechters are known for great setup since they use the expensive Plex machine to finish the frets. The acoustic tone was mid-pack, but not near what I expected for a guitar listing around $700. The pickup system was the most interesting aspect of the guitar as you can blend 3 inputs. While each pickup isn't top-shelf, you can get a pretty decent sound from the blend, as long as you don't use too much of the magnetic pickup which is a single coil and adds a lot of noise as it gets into its sweet spot (a bit unusual for an acoustic to mimic a Tele). I returned the guitar and was very pleased with Amazon's policy to pay for the return shipping. I got my refund in about a week, so I'm a happy Amazon shopper. Buying guitars online is a risk and I advise you protect yourself and try to deal with reputable sellers. Many out there don't even have the product in-hand, but rather sell for a "warehouse" and can't even tell you how it looks and sounds. I desided to upgrade my quest for a parlor guitar, but couldn't find anything I wanted locally. I got a Blueridge BR-361 from Guitarhut in Knoxville and it's just as the store owner described to me...fingerpicking heaven! |
