I was deeply moved and surprised. This is the best book I have read, to reveal the games people play, which keep each other distant. This book really revealed myself to myself. You have heard the saying, "When you are pointing your finger you have 3 pointing back". After reading this book I believe it more than ever. It has changed the rest of my life, and my relationships. If we are continually blaming someone else for our problems we will never get them solved. We have to be able to see our 50%.

Dr. Derman has worked with so many couples that I see, that he's discovered certain patterns and traps, couples fall into. He is very thorough about every scenario that can come up and discovers the importance of keeping your relationship with eachother sacred and making sure that, that's what the relationship is about. The two of you. No one else! 3rd parties...concerned friends, mothers, etc. Inviting them into the circle creates a bitch fest when you have 2 disgruntled partners. Then that's where it stays. As oppose to respecting eachother and maintaining oneself with the utmost importance. Even though it may come off as a cliche. You really do have to respect yourself in order to respect and love another.
