Book Description

November 1, 1999
HE GAVE HER SHELTER…

With a heart full of hope, Sara Stone took refuge in the serenity of the Ozarks. But she never counted on getting stranded in the middle of a raging storm. Like a godsend, brooding ex-cop Adam Callahan gallantly offered her shelter in his mountainside cabin. And although she knew that her trusting nature had gotten her into trouble before, a smitten Sara vowed to bring joy back into Adam's lonely life.

SHE GAVE HIM HER HEART

Adam had cut himself off from faith and love a long time ago—with good reason. But despite his self-imposed isolation, his adorable houseguest touched his world-weary soul. He'd thought his chance for peace and happiness was gone, but now he wondered what the future would hold if he conquered the shadows of the past—and married the woman of his dreams….

More About the Author

By now you have probably discovered that there are two of me. Well, not really. I'm the Valerie Hansen who writes Christian Romance, Suspense and Historical fiction for Love Inspired. This is my maiden name and much easier to spell and remember than my married name, Valerie Whisenand. I've been published since the 1980s and have over 45 books to my credit, most of which were written as Valerie Hansen. You can visit my website www.ValerieHansen.com to read excerpts and will find virtually all of my books still available through Amazon.com. AND NOW ALSO MANY ON KINDLE!

I'm thrilled that having my work on Kindle allows so many of my loyal readers to continue to find my books even after they're out of print.

I don't have a blog right now but do participate as a guest on others. Since I just received a contract to write 6 more books for Love Inspired as well as an option for a 7th, I hardly have time to breathe, let along blog!

(I can always find time for chocolate, though)

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful debut, September 6, 2001

This is the first of five Love Inspired books by Valerie Hansen,
so far. They're all set in rural Arkansas and this author has
a real feel for the humor inherent in country living, not to
mention romance between Christian men and women. I love it!

Ms Hansen is kind of heavy on the churchienity, but it was a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Arkansas Views, January 2, 2012
This review is from: The Wedding Arbor (Serenity Series #1) (Love Inspired #84) (Mass Market Paperback)
Living in Northern Arkansas my whole life, I've never known a place quite like this, but maybe such places do exist. The author really made Arkansas out to be a backwoods, hick kinda place but it's really not like that...

The dialogue between the couple is quite humorous at times. I loved their banter and the fact that the author didn't overdo it. I think a little bit of banter goes a long way. I found myself laughing out loud in several places - especially when it came to the mud and him getting hit in the head with the piece of wood. That was classic humor!

And like I said above, the picture of the Ozarks and Arkansas was just a bit hard for me to swallow. Like I said, I've lived in Arkansas almost my whole life (lived in KC and Austin for awhile as well), and I've never seen anything quite like this. I've yet to see a mom and pop quite like the one descirbed. We have shopping centers, restaurants, and normal towns just like everywhere else. I also haven't ever seen rains quite like what was described here. We've had our spring rains that last a few days, but I've never seen it rain more than not for about a month. This must take place in Newton County or something...perhaps...or further East...And though I do use some Arkansas lingo (Ya all, goona and fixin'), I don't talk anything like was deplicted the way Arkansas people talk...

This was a good story though. I enjoyed reading the simplicity and innocence of the story and imagined having a simple life like this. I'm glad to see everything turned out okay for everyone.
